Shuda Doubles Through Kornuth

Nível 25 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Gregory Shuda
Gregory Shuda

Chance Kornuth and Gregory Shuda invested 240,000 before the flop and a raising war on the {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} flop got the chips of both in with Shuda as the player at risk.

Gregory Shuda: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Chance Kornuth: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

"Come on spades," Shuda demanded but he was equally happy about the {k-Clubs} turn, which provided the superior two pair. Another blank followed with the {j-Hearts} river and Shuda doubled for 1,885,000 in order to surpass Kornuth on the leaderboard.

Aaron Mermelstein Eliminated in 14th Place ($67,313)

Nível 25 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Aaron Mermelstein
Aaron Mermelstein

Chance Kornuth raised to 225,000 and Aaron Mermelstein as the far shortest stack defended out of the big blind.

"It's still $10k," Kornuth remarked and Mermelstein replied "yeah but I gotta at least see the flop". Mermelstein then pushed for the rest of it on the {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and Kornuth called in an instant.

Aaron Mermelstein: {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Chance Kornuth: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades}

With one eight gone and the ace dead as that would give Kornuth broadway, the chances of Mermelstein were very slim. It was all over on the {q-Clubs} turn and the {6-Diamonds} river ended his run in 14th place for $67,313.

Sebag Jams Into Ball

Nível 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Heads-up to the {6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, Emmanuel Sebag checked and Scott Ball made it 275,000 to go. Sebag then check-raised to 600,000 and Ball made the call. After the {7-Diamonds} turn, Sebag checked again and Ball now bet 600,000 only for Sebag to push all-in.

Ball was certainly surprised by the near-instant move and gave it some consideration before sending the cards into the muck in the final hand before the break.

"You escaped," Sebag said as Ball replied "I had aces with a five." Sebag claimed to have had the effective nuts and boosted his stack without showdown.

Ben Lamb Eliminated in 15th Place ($67,313)

Nível 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Ben Lamb
Ben Lamb

Over on the outer table, Fabian Brandes raised from under the gun and Sam Stein called. Ben Lamb then three-bet the pot out of the small blind and Brandes went over the top for Stein to get out of the way. Lamb committed his stack of around 1.2 million and they flipped them over.

Ben Lamb: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Fabian Brandes: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}

Brandes was well ahead with the double-suited aces and had little to fear on the {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop and {6-Clubs} turn, which left Lamb on very thin ice. Nothing changed on the {5-Diamonds} river except that Brandes now made an eight-high straight and Lamb was eliminated in 15th place for $67,313.

Bleznick Blasts Up His Stack

Nível 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Gregory Shuda raised the pot to 180,000 on the button and Josh Arieh repotted to 680,000 in the small blind. Jared Bleznick then four-bet jammed out of the big blind for 2,015,000 and Shuda quickly got out of the way. Arieh used two time banks and folded, after which Bleznick tossed over his cards to the other side of the table.

The dealer had already collected one of them while Arieh was allowed to glance at the other three. "Did you have clubs as well? I only got to see three cards." Bleznick just shook his head and then stacked the chips.

Kronwitter Raises Depa

Nível 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Jonas Kronwitter raised to 210,000 in middle position and Jonathan Depa called in the big blind.

The dealer spread the {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop and Depa check-called a 100,000 bet. Both players checked the {a-Hearts} turn.

The {2-Hearts} completed the board and Depa led for 175,000. Kronwitter raised to 400,000, and Depa sent his cards into the muck.

Ball Is Taking His Chances

Nível 24 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Scott Ball and Chance Kornuth tangled in yet another decent pot and that led them to the {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} river, on which Ball bet 750,000 out of the big blind. Kornuth then popped it up to 1,800,000 and Ball let go.

"I just had that feeling I might bluff into quads again," Kornuth joked, referring to a previous hand against Fabian Brandes.

Ball then recovered some of the losses soon after against Jared Bleznick. Both invested 150,000 on the {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{k-Clubs} turn and Ball led the pot for 1,140,000 on the {q-Spades} river. Bleznick folded near instantly as Ball vaulted back above three million in chips.
