David Williams sits in third place heading into Day 3

The second most expensive Pot-Limit Omaha Event of the 2022 WSOP in its new home at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas will be one step closer to crowning a champion when the action resumes at 2pm local time in the Bally's Event Center. Out of a field of 264 entries, only 28 players remain in contention for Day 2 of Event #19: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller and they all aim to make it through another day to reach the five-handed live-streamed showdown.

All contenders still in the mix have a portion of the $6,237,000 prize pool locked up with a payday of $44,253 guaranteed so far. However, all eyes are set on the top prize of $1,467,739. Compared to the edition in 2021, the attendance was boosted significantly by 52 entries and several big names of the international poker scene will be competing for the coveted WSOP gold bracelet on the remaining two tournament days.

Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Ball leads the way with a stack of 3,990,000 followed by Jonathan Depa (3,625,000). There is already a small gap to third-placed David Williams, who will aim to double his WSOP gold bracelet tally and returns with 2,970,000 in chips.

Pittsburgh's James Chen (2,585,000), Aaron Mermelstein (1,955,000), Sam Stein (1,635,000) and GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu (1,550,000) can likewise be found in the overall top ten as well

Other notables in contention in a field shredded with high-stakes regulars and PLO specialists are Day 1 chip leader Jared Bleznick, Ben Lamb, Yuri Dzivielevski, Noah Schwartz, Gavin Cochrane, Keith Lehr and the reigning WSOP Player of the Year, Josh Arieh.

The penultimate tournament day is slated to play down to the final five players, and the event's conclusion will then be streamed the following day on PokerGO. Returning blinds for Day 3 in level 21 will be 15,000-30,000 with a big blind ante of 30,000. All levels last 60 minutes each and the penultimate tournament day is set to conclude once the field is down to the final five hopefuls.

Another two tournament days remain to crown a winner and all exclusive live updates for the conclusion of Event #19: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller can be found right here on PokerNews.

DeMaci Eliminated by Negreanu

Chris DeMaci
Chris DeMaci

With around 500,000 in the middle on an {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop, Chris DeMaci moved in his remaining 370,000 from the big blind and Daniel Negreanu called in the hijack.

"I've got a flush draw," said Negreanu.

Chris DeMaci: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Daniel Negreanu: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The {4-Spades} landed on the turn to complete Negreanu's flush draw, and the {5-Spades} river confirmed the result to eliminate DeMaci.

Yankov Eliminated by Arieh

Nível 21 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Heads-up to the {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, Josh Arieh bet 115,000 and then reluctantly called the all-in by Krasimir Yankov for 290,000 on the button.

Krasimir Yankov: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Josh Arieh: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

The {10-Spades} turn and {q-Spades} river failed to improve Yankov's gutshot and nut flush draw, sending the Bulgarian to the rail in 27th place for $50,575.

Li Doubles Through Schwartz

Nível 21 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

With a seizable pot already developed until the {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} river, Noah Schwartz checked and then faced the all-in by Tong Li in the cutoff for 420,000. Schwartz mulled it over for a bit and then called to get shown the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for the wheel.

"Oh my god," Schwartz gasped and sent his cards right into the muck, plummeting to a severe short stack.

Brandes Off to a Decent Start

Nível 21 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

During the first few hands of the day, Fabian Brandes repotted against Yuri Dzivielevski and made it 790,000 to go. Dzivielevski forfeited his three-bet to 255,000 and Brandes told him "it's nice to wake up to double suited aces."

Brandes then also won a showdown pot against Philip Wiszowaty to further boost his stack.

Shuda Doubles Through Lamb

Nível 21 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Ben Lamb opened to 80,000 under the gun before Gregory Shuda raised from the cutoff and got his 365,000 chips in against Lamb.

Gregory Shuda: {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Ben Lamb: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop vaulted Shuda in front as he gave an "oh yeah!". The {6-Diamonds} and {7-Diamonds} completed the board to confirm Shuda's double.
