2011 World Series of Poker Europe
Fabrice Soulier was given the honour of announcing shuffle-up and deal and it seems that it has given him a bit of momentum. He is seated on a tough table featured Jeff Lisandro and David Williams but he has gotten off to a great start.
David Williams started the ball rolling with a raise to 125 and Soulier called on the button as did the small blind.
Flop:
The small blind checked to Williams who bet 225 and Soulier called before the small blind ducked out of the way.
Turn:
Williams continued his aggression with a bet of 600 and Soulier made the call.
River:
Williams made a very confident third bet of 1,500 but Soulier raised the stakes to 3,550. Williams pondered his next move which was to fold face up and Soulier raked in the pot.

After Jack Effel gave a lengthy introduction in which he explained the rules that will be enforced during the WSOPE he passed on the microphone to WSOP bracelet winner Fabrice Soulier who spoke the most famous words in poker. We're underway in Cannes and it's looking to be a very interesting day!
There is going to be a slight delay in the first event: the €2,500 six-handed NLHE. It is 16:55 and players are still flowing into the Hotel Majestic Barriere and the Casino across the road.
244 players participated in this event last year, which was eventually won by Phil Laak. 224 players have already registered and the entirety of Day One will be played out in the Hotel Majestic Barriere. On Day Two, action will transfer to the casino across the road before returning back to the Hotel Majestic Barriere for Day three and the finale.
Each player starts with 7,500 chips and we are anticipating eight 60-minute levels with short breaks after every two levels.
In a few short hours the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) will be back for another year and it promises to be bigger, better and classier than ever before. We have waved bye-bye to the fish and chips and dreary London weather and have moved onto the classy coast that is the French Riveria, Cannes!
AT 17:00 (CET) the doors of the Hotel Majestic Barriere will open and we will begin our first event of the 2011 WSOPE, the €2,680 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em tournament, which will be a three-day event.
PokerNews is the only place to be to receive the very best updates in the business, so do not be late.
