Cheong Chips Up

Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Joseph Cheong opened for 19,000 on the button and found one caller in the big blind.

The flop came {3-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Spades} and both players checked. When the {Q-Spades} fell on the turn, the big blind check-called a 25,000 bet from Cheong.

The {2-Hearts} completed the board and the big blind checked again. Cheong began to push out a bet but his opponent insta-mucked - conceding the pot.

Cheong is up to 955,000.

Uber Huber

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Stefan Huber just added some chips, pushing his stack up around the 600,000 mark.

With the board showing {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, Huber called with the rest of his chips following an opponent's shove and tabled {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}. It had been a good decision, as his opponent held {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Huber scored a more-than-double up.

Hey, It's Frankland

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Matthew Frankland has busted two players in simultaneous hands. During the first, Frankland had his opponent at risk preflop. Frankland's {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} held against his opponent's {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} as the board ran {q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and Frankland's stack increased to about 1.15 million chips.

In the very next hand, Frankland called a raise from an opponent preflop, and all the money went in after the flop fell {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Frankland's {a-Spades}{3-Spades} had snatched the lead from his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, and the turn and river bricked {7-Hearts}, {j-Clubs} respectively.

Frankland now commands one of the biggest stacks in the room with about 1.45 million chips to his name.

PearlJammer Rockin' Out

From the UTG +1 position, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner raised to 17,000 before the flop and the action folded around to the player in the hijack position, who re-raised to 42,000. Turner called, then checked his option after the dealer spread the flop of {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

The hijack pushed out a bet worth 55,000 and Turner called, then he led out for 68,000 after the turn of the {6-Clubs}, sending his opponent into the tank before he eventually laid his hand down.

Turner is now back over 500,000 in chips as a result of that hand.

Micon Gone

Bryan Micon
Bryan Micon

Sami Kelopuro raised on the button and Brian Micon moved in from the small blind for around 100,000. Kelopuro snap-called and the players showed their hands.

Kelopuro: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Micon: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Micon said, “Nice hand LarsLuzak” referring to Kelopuro’s online name before the board rolled out {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts} to eliminate Micon.

The Four Hour Level 17

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Sam Barnhart is atop the leaderboard.
Sam Barnhart is atop the leaderboard.

Another level has passed and one thing we know for sure, there will be no repeat Main Event Champion this year. Robert Varkonyi was the last ME Champ standing but fell to a set of sixes when he paired his ace. Sam Barnhart and Daryl Jace continue to live at the top of the counts.

Joining Varkonyi on the rail this level were Jake Cody, Vanessa Rousso, Joe Serock, Shannon Shorr, Steve Gross, Dennis Philips, Warren Fund and Martin Hruby.

The field also keeps shrinking as tables are breaking quickly through the Orange section. The tournament clock reads 495 players remain. Two pay jumps have already been reached, each active player is now guaranteed $23,876.

Tournament supervisors have also taken the 500 chip out of play. Players only have 1,000 (yellow), 5,000 (orange) and 25,000 (green) are in play.

Only one more level is scheduled to play tonight. Then players will bag and tag their chips before returning for Day 5 tomorrow.
