Lamb Loses Hand With Big Slick

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

It looks like Ben Lamb isn’t invincible with hands involving Big Slick anymore. We just found an early position player all in preflop and at risk for 195,000 against Lamb in middle position.

Lamb: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Lamb found himself on the dominated end and the {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop provided no help to him. The case {K-Hearts} on the turn had Lamb drawing dead which made the {8-Diamonds} useless and doubled up the player. Although Lamb was on a sick run before, he has slipped since the last break and now has just over a million in chips.

Serock Has Breath Taken Away by Berlin

It was folded around to short stack Joe Serock who moved all in from small blind and Nachman Berlin quickly called from the big blind.

Serock: {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Berlin: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The flop came {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} but how about the {7-Clubs} on the turn for the monster draw? Unfortunately the {Q-Spades} river proved a bit of an anti-climax for Serock and he was eliminated.

Varkonyi Vanquished

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Robert Varkonyi
Robert Varkonyi

Robert Varkonyi, the last of the WSOP Main Event champions left in the field, has been eliminated. The details of his elimination, in broad strokes…

Following a flop of {A-}{10-}{x-}, Varkonyi led with a bet and his lone opponent called. The turn brought a {6-}, and Varkonyi bet again, this time committing about half his remaining chips. His opponent raised enough to put the 2002 WSOP ME champ all in, and Varkonyi went deep into the tank. Finally the clock was called, and eventually Varkonyi called the raise.

Varkonyi showed {A-}{Q-} for top pair, but his opponent had turned a set with {6-}{6-}. The river was a {2-}, and Varkonyi hit the rail.

This marks Varkonyi's third WSOP ME cash overall, after his '02 win and 177th-place finish in 2007.

Stout is Strong

Matt Stout had an opponent all in and at risk after the flop had fallen {8-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Stout held {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks, and his opponent opened up {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. The turn and river bricked {k-Clubs}, {3-Hearts}, respectively, and Stout won the hand, pushing his stack to 1.2 million.

Jaffe Doubles

After Sergey Altbregin raised to 14,000 from the hijack seat, action folded to Jared Jaffe in the big blind. He reraised all in for 149,000. Altbregin thought about it, got a count on Jaffe's stack and then made the call.

Jaffe: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Altbregin: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}

The flop, turn and river ran out {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Jaffe doubled through.

Hruby Flushed Out

Martin Hruby
Martin Hruby

It was folded around to the player in the cutoff who raised and Martin Hruby moved all in for around 153,000 from the big blind. The cutoff made the call and the players showed their hands.

Cutoff: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Hruby: {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

Hruby was behind and {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} the flop was of no help to him and it gave the cutoff a flush draw which took away some of Hruby's outs. Although Hruby paired up on the turn, it was the wrong suit as it came the dreaded {9-Clubs} to complete said flush for his opponent. Hruby would now need a nine or a three to survive and double up but it the was the {5-Clubs} and he was eliminated.

Nicolas Fierro
Nicolas Fierro

A player in middle position opened with a standard raise, and Nicolas Fierro called from the cutoff. The player on the button then reraised to 35,000, forcing out both the blinds and original raiser, but Fierro stuck around.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. Fierro checked, his opponent bet 44,000, and Fierro called. The turn brought the {2-Clubs} and another check from Fierro. His opponent fired 84,000 this time, and after a long tank Fierro let his hand go.

Fierro has 790,000.

Bach to the Future

Joe Serock raised to 13,000 preflop and Vanessa Rousso made the call in middle position while David Bach called from the big blind. The flop was {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} and it was checked to Serock who bet 25,000, Rousso raised to 50,000 and Bach announced he was all in for around 450,000 in total.

Serock folded and the onus was on Rousso who thought for a couple of minutes before finally calling with {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Bach showed {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and needed a king, eight or backdoor hearts to survive.

The {8-Hearts} then appeared on the turn getting Bach out of trouble and his double up was completed on the {2-Spades} river.

Barter was behind and it stayed that way through the flop and turn that came {J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Spades}. On the river however, if the title didn’t already give it away for you, Barter hit his two outer wtih the {Q-Spades}.
