Kevin Hart Goes Loudly

Nível 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Kevin Hart
Kevin Hart

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart woke up in his very own Scary Movie as he busted on Day 1a of the PokerStars Championships Bahamas Main Event.

Despite proving he can Think Like a Man, his Exit Strategy proved that while Hart could Get Hard in a tough-guy sense at the poker table, no amount of Central Intelligence could prevent his day ending.

First, Hart was short-stack at around 9,500 when he tussled with Jacek Lopuszynski. A pot of 6,000 saw Hart bet 2,400 on the river of a board showing {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

"Are you getting my poker face?"

Maybe he was but the bet was called by Allen Farris, who had {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Hart mucked, stating the result of the hand was "racism at its best"!

The next hand he played saw Hart limp but then fold to two raises pre-flop, squinting at the cards from behind shades, announcing to the table: "I can't see shit in these glasses!"

A new player sat down at the table. "Welcome to hell, sir." said Hart.

Finally, with Hart down to just 4,500 chips, all the lines were coming out to stave off his demise.

"My poker is like the felt, it's smooth...but if you push it back in the other direction, it gets rough."

Hart moved all-in, getting two callers in Aslan Tchechoev from Russia and former nemesis Jacek Lopuszynski.

The flop came {J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Lopuszynski's bet of 3,500 was called by Tcechoev.

"Oh, shit!" announced Hart. The turn of {3-Clubs} was checked by both active players in the hand, but the river {A-Hearts} saw Tcechoev lead for 10,000 and get a fold. Hart paused, waiting for the news.

Tcechoev turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Hart jumped out of his seat, at exactly the same moment that a new entrant to Day 1a in the form of Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu passed him on the way to taking his seat.

Hart turned over {2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, and his chips were moved over to Tcechoev.

"This is all your fault, Daniel!" yelled Hart, startling the jovial Canadian. "These guys watched me, I saw you and twitched and they called. I'm out!"

"Hey man, way to take responsibilities for your actions!" quipped Negreanu. Hart promised to return to defeat his table mates, most of whom were laughing.

"Tell them that I went down swinging!" Hart declared. The film star and sell-out stand up comedian may be out, but he is never down!

Damian Salas Faces the 'Mike McDonald Stare'

Nível 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Mike McDonald
Mike McDonald

With about 3,200 in the pot, on a board reading {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Damian Salas checked from the big blind.

Mike McDonald was in middle position and bet 1,000. Salas called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, and Salas checked. McDonald stared him down for about a minute before opting to check back.

The river was the {9-Spades}. Salas thought for a moment and led out for 4,000. McDonald stared him down yet again, but this time it didn't work as he mucked his hand.

Both players have chipped up as they head into the second break of the day.

Sam Greenwood Among Recent Eliminations

Nível 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Sam Greenwood's luck has not turned around in the last 24 hours. After bubbling the $100K Super High Roller last night, Greenwood jumped into the Main Event. Unfortunately for him, he is among those who've failed to make the second break of the day.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Govert Metaal

Govert Metaal

We picked up the action on the turn with the board reading {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} when Nathaniel Howe bet 6,000 from the hijack and Govert Metaal called from the cutoff.

When the {10-Spades} completed the board on the river, Howe checked and Metaal moved all in. Howe, who appeared to have around 12,000 back, called off only to muck when Metaal tabled the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

Everyone Loves a Chopped Pot

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Action folded to Mike Leah in the cutoff and he raised to 800, which Leo Yan Ho Cheng called from the button. Patrick Stacey came along from the big blind and then all three players checked the {8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop.

The checking repeated itself on both the {2-Spades} turn and {5-Hearts} river, at which point Stacey tabled the {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Leah then revealed the {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, and Cheng rolled over the {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} for half the pot.

Luciano Dayan Eliminates One

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Luciano Dayan was in late position and raised to 1,000. Action folded to the big blind and he three-bet to 5,000.

Dayan thought about it for a moment and four-bet to 16,000. His opponent had about 17,200 behind and went into the tank. He eventually piled his whole stack in the middle and Dayan called.

Dayan tabled {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} while his opponent revealed a dominated {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Dayan raked in the pot, sending his opponent to the rail.

Dayan now has more than double the starting stack and is towards the top of the counts.

Busquet Beats Peters but Dadoun Leads the Field at Tough Table

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Sergio Garcia and Morris Dadoun
Sergio Garcia and Morris Dadoun

One of the toughest tables in the Day 1a room here at the PokerStars Championships Main Event here in the Bahamas features the chip leader. Golfing superstar Sergio Garcia shares the felt with Global Poker Index No. 1 from 2016 David Peters, Olivier Busquet, Gaelle Baumann and the current chips leader, Morris Dadoun.

We joined the star-studded table to see Busquet taking his seat and he was straight into the action, betting to 1,000 from early position. Only David Peters called from the big blind, and on the flop of {Q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, Peters called the bet of 1,200 from his opponent. The turn of {3-Diamonds} saw Peters check to Busquet, but the GPI Player of the Year couldn't call the bet of 3,500 and Busquet got off to a great start, rising to 34,000.

Peters still has a big stack of 53,000 but that is nothing compared to the 80,000 in front of Dadoun (pictured with Sergio Garcia). The Canadian features in a forthcoming with our own Sarah Herring, so stay tuned to hear all about him!
