Monster Call Launches Fontaine over Martini

Nível 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Jean-René Fontaine
Jean-René Fontaine

Julien Martini raised to 1,300,000 from under the gun and everyone folded to Jean-René Fontaine in the big blind. In one fell swoop, Fontaine picked up all his blue T-500,000 chips and flung them in the middle for a bet worth 5,900,000, and Martini called.

The flop was {J-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} and Fontaine snap-checked. Martini didn't waste too much time before checking behind.

On the {A-Hearts} turn, Fontaine acted instantly again and took one of his three stacks of black T-100,000 chips, which he put into the pot with a loud thud. It was 2,300,000 total, which Martini called within ten seconds.

The river was the {6-Hearts} and Fontaine instantly checked this time. Martini took around ten to fifteen seconds before announcing all in. It was around 5 million to call for Fontaine, who sat back in his chair. Then, after about twenty seconds, he picked up one of his stacks of black and put it in the middle.

Knowing he was beaten, Martini showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for the whiffed king-high with the nut blocker. Fontaine stood up, clapped his hands and smashed a mere {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} open on the felt. The sharp call launched him to 27 million as Martini slipped to 21 million.

Di Giacomo Makes the Right Call

Nível 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

The action folded to Jean-René Fontaine in the cutoff and raised with only Claudio Di Giacomo calling the big blind. The flop came down {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, and Di Giacomo check-called a bet from Fontaine.

The turn brought the {j-Spades} and both players checked. On the {4-Diamonds} river, Di Giacomo bet 1,6m and Fontaine instantly raised to 3.8m. Di Giacomo needed a couple of minutes to think, but ultimately he made the call.

Fontaine showed ace high with {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and Di Giacomo took the pot with {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a pair.

Julien Martini raised to 650,000 from under the gun and Claudio Di Giacomo called on the button. Jean-René Fontaine three-bet to 2,725,000 from the big blind, Martini called, and Di Giacomo folded.

The flop was {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and without a moment's hesitation, Fontaine took a sizable stack of chips and put it forward, worth 3,500,000. Martini came along with a relatively quick call.

On the {2-Diamonds} turn, Fontaine wasted no time and snap-shoved all in for 7,225,000. Martini appeared to have a big hand for the situation and went deep in the tank. He tried to chat it up in French with his opponent, but the brush quickly put a stop to that.

After about two minutes, Martini flicked his hand in the muck with a sullen look on his face. He begged Fontaine to show but his countryman refused to comply and, agonizingly slow, slid the two cards face-down in the muck.

Mariano Leandro Hyon Eliminated in 8th Place (€64,800)

Nível 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Mariano Leandro Hyon
Mariano Leandro Hyon

The action folded around to table chipleader Julien Martini on the button, and he raised to 650,000. After Jan Teunis folded in the small blind, Mariano Leandro Hyon proceeded to move all in for 7.9m. Martini needed time to think and was unsure of his decision but eventually made the call.

Mariano Leandro Hyon: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Julien Martini: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Board: {4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

The flop was safe for Leandro Hyon who had his opponents hand dominated, but the nine of hearts hit the turn to give Martini two pair, and there was no saving queen on the river for Leandro Hyon.

The Argentinian departs in 8th place for €64,800.

Ah Line Cold Four-Bets and Shows Kings

Nível 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Jerome L'Hostis raised to 725,000 from early position and saw Claudio Di Giacomo three-bet to 2.1m from middle positon. Alberto Ah Line was in the next seat and playing from the hijack when he went into the tank. After a couple of minutes thought he cold four-bet to 5.5m. The action back around to L'Hostis who quickly folded before Di Giacomo again needed time to think.

Di Giacomo contemplated his next move for around 90 seconds before he announced fold and showed the ace of spades. Ah Line, in turn, flipped over pocket kings for the table to see before he stacked the pot.

Roger Taieb Eliminated in 9th Place (€53,410)

Nível 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Roger Taieb
Roger Taieb

The action folded around to Jerome L'Hostis on the button, and he moved all in. The two players in the blinds were the short stacks of Jan Dentler and Roger Taieb. Dentler folded but Taieb called for his last ten big blinds, and the hands were turned on their backs.

Jerome L'Hostis: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Roger Taieb: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Board: {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Taieb was in good shape to secure a double up with L'Hostis having only one over card. But that card hit on the flop when the queen of diamonds was revealed. Frenchman Taieb was unable to get back into the lead as the board completed and was the first player to be eliminated from the final table in 9th place for €53,410.
