Matakis Shoves on Shing

Nível 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

With roughly 8,000 in the pot on a {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Spades} board, Philip Shing checked in early position, and Ian Matakis bet 5,000 on the button. Shing called.

The {5-Hearts} completed the board, Shing checked, and Matakis moved all in for approximately 25,000. Shing thought about it but sent his cards into the muck to concede the pot without a showdown.

Platt Suffers Cooler

Nível 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Jeff Platt
Jeff Platt

A player opened under the gun to 1,200 and Jeff Platt three-bet to 4,000 from one seat over only to see a player in late position shove all in. Action folded back around to Platt who made the call with the bigger stack.

Late Position Player: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Jeff Platt: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Platt was behind and would need help to scoop a large pot and bust his opponent. He did pick up a gutshot on the {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop but found no further help on the {6-Clubs} turn or {2-Diamonds} river. Despite the loss, Platt is still among the big stacks in the room.

British Poker Player John Howard Ships $1,100 NLH Wynn Summer Classic Tournament

Nível 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
John Howard
John Howard

The top two finishers in the Wynn Summer Classic's June 4 $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament are from the United Kingdom. John Howard took first place for $58,942, while his fellow countryman, Raul Martinez Gallero, was the runner-up and received $36,385.

The tournament had an impressive field of 238 entrants. With $233,240 in the pot, there wasn't much of a sweat for the Wynn's poker room to hit the $200,000 guarantee. Thus far, the Wynn Summer Classic has been absolutely crushing it in terms of attendance, and this event was no outlier.

Howard beat a tough field that included some talented pros such as Justin Liberto (7th place for $7,557). He didn't just score big at the Wynn. The champ essentially earned his first ever recorded live tournament cash. According to Hendon Mob, his only other previous cash was for $28 back in 2009.

Reixach Puts Pressure on Tice

Nível 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Sergi Reixach
Sergi Reixach

Sergi Reixach opened to 1,400 from the button and received a single call from Landon Tice out of the big blind.

Tice checked on a flop of {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Reixach continued for 1,400. Without too much hesitation, Tice called.

Action checked through the {9-Hearts} turn to the {7-Spades} river. Tice checked for a third time and Reixach, after eyeing up his opponent's stack, bet enough to force Tice all in. Tice instantly mucked to keep Reixach chipping up at a fast rate.

Dubonnet Chipping Up

Nível 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Samy Dubonnet opened to 1,200 from under the gun and was three-bet to 3,800 by a player in middle position. Action folded back around to Dubonnet who made the call to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

On a flop of {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} Dubonnet checked and then raised to 5,300 after his opponent led out for 1,300. That raise was enough to get a fold and send another pot Dubonnet's way.
