Wynn 2022 Summer Classic $3,500 NLH Championship Day 1b
The 2022 Wynn Summer Classic continues with the $3,500 NLH Championship, with Day 1b beginning at 12 p.m. PDT.
Last year this same event had a $1,000,000 guarantee, with Chance Kornuth coming out on top to win over $350,000. This year the guarantee has been increased to a whopping $3,500,000 and after 300 hopefuls took their shot on Day 1a, it looks as if that guarantee is going to be met.
Today is the second of three starting flights with unlimited reentry permitted per flight. Play on each Day 1 will continue for fifteen 40-minute levels or until 11% of the starting field remains, whichever comes first. The late registration period runs until the start of Level 10, just after the dinner break at 7:30 p.m.
On Days 2 and 3 the level length increases to 60-minutes with ten levels being played on Day 2 and Day 3 continuing until a winner is crowned.
Thomas Muehloecker came out on top of Day 1a, bagging 1,127,000. It will be interesting to see whether any runner on Day 1b will be able to exceed that lofty total.
This is the marquee event of the Wynn Summer Classic series but that does not mean there have not been some massive tournaments already at the Wynn this summer. Just last week the $2,200 Mystery Bounty event was taken down by Manuel Machado for $410,485 in addition to bounties.

A player limped from under the gun and action folded around to Mark Babekov in the small blind, who checked. Darren Elias followed suit out of the big blind to send the three players to the flop.
Babekov checked on a flop of 
and Elias threw out a bet of 200. The under the gun player called only to see Babekov raise to 800. Both Elias and the under the gun player called.
Babekov led out for 1,500 on the 
turn, which was enough to force his two opponents to fold and keep himself chipping up early in the day,

flop. Heinzl bet 600 and Neff called.

board, Eric Wigg bet 5,500 in the small blind and Matthew Leecy called in the under-the-gun position.

Van Zadelhoff Wins a Small One

Before the blinds went up, Steven van Zadelhoff opened to 300 from under the gun and was called by Mark Zajdner in the cutoff as well as a player on the button. "Let me guess, you're gonna mow me down," said van Zadelhoff to Zajdner prior to the flop being dealt.
Despite his previous statement, van Zadelhoff did lead out for 300 on the 
flop. Zajdner called while the button folded to send the two players heads-up to the turn.
Action checked through the 
turn to the 
river where van Zadelhoff sized up a bet to 1,500. "That's all you," remarked Zajdner as he tossed his hand into the muck to send a small pot the Dutchman's way.
