Besim Hot Leads the Final Seven Players in Event #10: €25,500 Mixed Games Championship; Hellmuth and Negreanu in Contention

Nível 18 : 40,000/80,000, 120,000 ante

After nearly another 10 levels of all variants of poker, only seven players remain in the quest for a World Series of Poker gold bracelet in Event #10: €25,500 Mixed Games Championship. The day mostly belonged to Besim Hot who dominated throughout to bag up an impressive chip lead with 15,795,000 chips.

The Swiss poker player has been missing in action over the past few years but has been making a big impact at the 2019 WSOP Europe thus far. Just a couple of days ago, Hot had a fifth-place finish in the €25,500 High Roller where he pocketed over €166,000. Now he has his second cash of the series but will be looking to better that performance and maybe lay claim to his first-ever bracelet.

Hot's first major clash of the day came against Benny Glaser (2,750,000) and the two continued to battle, trading the chip lead in the early going. However, Hot got the best of Glaser in a pot-limit omaha hand where Hot got a full double up. He then went on to eliminate Anatoly Filatov, Ivo Donev, and Anthony Zinno en route to the final table.

While Hot will hold over a third of the chips in play, it won't be an easy path to victory with plenty of experience among the other six players. Dzmitry Urbanovich is still a distant second after a last-hand knockout that vaulted him to 7,425,000 chips. Urbanovich will also be in search of his WSOP title. While the two leaders have zero bracelets to their name, there are 25 total bracelets among four others.

Most notably, two of poker's biggest names in Phil Hellmuth (5,495,000) and Daniel Negreanu (5,315,000) will be in the hunt and looking to add to their poker resume. Negreanu has already locked up his sixth cash in 10 events at the WSOP Europe in his hopes to claim another Player of the Year title while Hellmuth will be looking to win a record-breaking 16th bracelet.

Another name that some may find familiar is that of Alex Livingston (4,005,000) who's back at King's Resort in Rozvadov this year. The Canadian poker pro is coming off a third-place finish in the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas where he scored a career-best $4,000,000. Livingston appeared to take a break since his deep run but he's back looking for his first-ever WSOP title.

The action got underway at 3 p.m. local time earlier today with just 21 players returning to their seats from Day 1. That number quickly grew in the first couple of levels with late registration still open. Phil Ivey entered for the third time while many mixed-game rookies took a seat with an overlay looming on the €1,000,000 guaranteed prizepool. Ryan Riess, Alex Foxen, and James Chen joined a few Russians in Marek Blasko, Maksim Pisarenko, and Filatov to compete against some of the greats.

A total of 45 entries were recorded for the event and it took a while after the registration period closed for the eliminations to occur. There were still 30 players remaining after the second break of the day but that number quickly dwindled as the short stacks bowed out. Shaun Deeb, Chris Ferguson, David "ODB" Baker, Robert Campbell, and Zinno all saw their POY hopes take a hit as they were eliminated before the money.

It was a dramatic ending to the day when both Johannes Becker and Roland Israelashvili were eliminated within seconds of each other with nine players remaining. Only seven places were paid and there was no hand-for-hand process required to get into the money. With just seven players remaining, the players and tournament staff decided to call it quits on the night with 21:43 remaining in level 18.

Becker and Israelashvili Bust to Burst the Bubble

Nível 18 : 40,000/80,000, 120,000 ante
Johannes Becker
Johannes Becker

Pot-Limit Omaha

All of a sudden, there were two all-in and call in the first hand of Pot-Limit Omaha and that could essentially burst the money bubble without going hand-for-hand.

Johannes Becker raised the pot and Dzmitry Urbanovich three-bet the pot out of the big blind. Becker piled it in for 1,575,000 with the words "let's gamble" and Urbanovich snap-called.

Johannes Becker: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Dzmitry Urbanovich: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Becker pushed his ace-nine of hearts towards the board and Benny Glaser immediately said "don't do that."

The {4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop gave Becker trips deuces while the {j-Spades} turn saw Urbanovich with a flush draw. The {j-Hearts} river instead improved Urbanovich to trips jacks and Becker was left empty-handed.

"At least I didn't bubble this one," he said while at the same time there was also a showdown at the other table.

Daniel Negreanu had raised to 160,000 and Roland Israelashvili called from the big blind, they got it in after the {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Spades} flop.

Roland Israelashvili: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Daniel Negreanu: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The {8-Hearts} turn and {2-Hearts} river failed to improve Israelashvili to let the bubble burst.

Joao Vieira: {x-}{x-} / {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts} / {x-}

There was a large pot brewing with three players still active in the hand on fifth street. Negreanu bet and Martini called. Vieira stuck in the last of his 180,000 and there was still a small side pot.

Negreanu bet again on sixth and Martini raised all in for 385,000 which Negreanu quickly called. Martini showed {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for a straight and six low while Negreanu had {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for two pair. Vieira was a sitting duck with {8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

On the final draw, Negreanu pulled a four-side across as he peeled it from the side. It happened to be the {10-Spades} as Negreanu filled up for the high. Martini took the low and Vieira was eliminated.

Anthony Zinno: {x-}{x-} / {a-}{6-}{q-}{q-} / {x-}
Besim Hot: {x-}{x-} / {j-}{a-}{10-}{j-} / {x-}

Anthony Zinno returned from the break as the shortest stack in the room and was just looking for a starting hand to go with. He found one in razz and picking up the action on fifth street, Zinno made a bet and was called by Besim Hot.

Zinno was all in for 230,000 on sixth and Hot made the call again. After seventh, Zinno flipped over {10-}{4-}{10-} and with a double-pair in his hand, he was playing a queen. Hot tabled {8-}{2-}{7-} and made a ten to eliminate Zinno.

Ivo Donev was all in with jacks on fourth and said "one time hold with the better hand" as he faced the hot-running chip leader Hot, who caught a king on fourth and fifth in order to take the lead.

Donev asked Anthony Zinno to squeeze his final card, which was the {3-Diamonds} to make two pair. However, Hot spiked the {a-Spades} for aces and kings to send Donev out in 12th.

2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Thomer Pidun was all in before the first draw and faced Anthony Zinno as well as Daniel Negreanu.

Pidun discarded three cards, Zinno required two new cards and Negreanu took one. Negreanu bet and Zinno called, then discarded two again while Negreanu took one. Pidun took one card and a bet of Negreanu forced out Zinno to see both remaining players table their four cards while discarding one.

Thomer Pidun: {8-}{6-}{4-}{2-}
Daniel Negreanu: {8-}{6-}{3-}{2-}

Negreanu spiked the {5-} for an eighty-six with a five and Pidun bricked with the {j-} to hit the rail in 13th place. All remaining 12 players will now redraw to the final two tables.

No-Limit Hold'em

Left short on around 900,000 after losing a 2-7 Triple Draw hand against Dzmitry Urbanovich, Anatoly Filatov raised to 90,000 in the cutoff in No-Limit Hold'em and Besim Hot in the big blind three-bet to 300,000. Filatov moved all in and Hot made the call.

Anatoly Filatov: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Besim Hot: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

There was no threat on the {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop and the {10-Diamonds} turn but the cruel {a-Clubs} river spelled the end for Filatov in 17th place.

George Danzer had lost the vast majority of his short stack against James Chen just prior and was then all in for very few chips in a three-way Seven Card Stud hand.

Fourth street was checked and Johannes Becker bet fifth, Roland Israelashvili folded. Becker had a pair of kings until sixth and received the {q-Diamonds} as final card, which gave Danzer some outs with his pair of deuces. He squeezed the final card and it was the blank {6-Clubs} to bow out.

No-Limit Hold'em

Julien Martini in the small blind limp-called a raise by Jeff Lisandro in the big blind and check-called a bet of 110,000 on the {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. The {2-Hearts} turn was checked and Martini check-called the shove of Lisandro with {a-Clubs}{4-Spades} for top pair, as Lisandro briefly showed his cards and tossed them into the muck.

One hand later, Oleg Pavlyuchuk raised to 60,000 and Martini called on the button, as did Tony G in the big blind. The {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop was checked by Tony G, Pavlyuchuk bet 105,000 and Martini came along. No betting action followed on the {a-Hearts} turn and {3-Diamonds} river, Martini tabled {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and that won the pot.

One Pair Wins in a Three-Way All In

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

Pot-Limit Omaha

Marek Blasko opened to 75,000 in the hijack and was called by Roland Israelashvili in the small blind. Ryan Riess raised the pot to 280,000 in the big blind and Blasko stuck in his last 265,000. Israelashvili also called to create a side pot. The flop came {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Israelashvili check-called the all-in of Riess for 344,000.

Ryan Riess: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Roland Israelashvili: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Marek Blasko: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}

Riess was currently out front with his pair of aces but Israelashvili picked up a ton of outs on the {7-Hearts} turn card. Riess also had a flush draw but the {2-Spades} was a complete brick on the river. The aces from Riess held up to eliminate Blasko and double up through Israelashvili.

"We have a new captain at the table," Tony G chimed in. "It's my turn now. I'm ready to be fed."
