Dia 3 Começado

Chip Leader Aaron Katz
Chip Leader Aaron Katz

Welcome to Day 3 coverage of the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.

The starting field of 100 players is down to just 44, with each looking to capture the first-place prize of $1,395,767, the World Series of Poker bracelet, and the prestige of winning one of the premier events in the poker world.

Aaron Katz is in pole position to begin the day, leading the field with 1,642,000. Katz was second in chips entering Day 2 and rode a rush in the middle of the day to cross the million-chip mark. He continued to add to his stack in the final level on Monday, en route to his bagging the chip lead. Rounding out the five chip counts are Talal Shakerchi (1,480,500), two-time PPC champion Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (1,087,000), Elior Sion (1,033,500), and Andrey Zaichenko (962,000).

A plethora of big names remain, and it would do a disservice to only list a few of them. Below find the complete Day 3 table and seat draw — scroll down and see the many notables still in the hunt:

Two Pair For Perry

Nível 13 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

After a raise and a call preflop, Ralph Perry faced off against Stephen Chidwick on a board of {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Chidwick checked over to Perry who bet 20,000 and Chidwick called.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Chidwick decided to lead for 25,000. Perry called.

On the {A-Spades} river, Chidwick checked. Perry put out a bet of 40,000 and after thinking for about a minute, Chidwick called. Perry turned up {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Chidwick mucked his hand, allowing Perry to take in the pot.

Benson Takes a Chunk From Negreanu With Quads

Nível 13 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Gary Benson raised from the cutoff and Daniel Negreanu called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Negreanu check-called 15,000 from Benson to see the {7-Spades} turn. Negreanu check-called another 37,000 from Benson, landing the {9-Clubs} river to the board.

Negreanu checked for a third time and Benson bet 91,000.

"It's a tough one," said Negreanu, leaning back in his chair. "I don't think I can throw it away."

Negreanu called after a few moments, but mucked when Benson tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} for quads.

David Oppenheim Eliminated by Johannes Becker

Nível 13 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Following a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}, David Oppenheim was all in from the button for about 105,000 with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} against Johannes Becker in the big blind with {8-Spades}{3-Spades}.

Oppenheim was unable to catch up as the {3-Clubs} turn and {3-Diamonds} river further improved Becker to a full house to score the elimination.

Volpe Doubles Through Zaichenko

Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

No-Limit Hold'em

Paul Volpe was all in when we got to his table, for 289,000. He was in the cutoff and looked to have four-bet shoved over a three-bet to 66,000 from big blind Andrey Zaichenko. The Russian considered for awhile and cut out calling chips. Eventually, he did voice a call.

Paul Volpe: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Andrey Zaichenko: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The race went to Volpe as the board ran out {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Katchalov Doubles Through Kenney in a Battle of Short Stacks

Nível 13 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Stud

Katchalov: {x-}{x-} / {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Kenney: {x-}{x-} / {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{K-Spades}

Bryn Kenney completed and Eugene Katchalov made it two bets. Kenney called.

Katchalov bet again on fourth and Kenney called. On fifth, Katchalov bet again, Kenney made it two bets and Katchalov moved all in. Kenney called. Katchalov showed {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for two pair while Kenney was holding {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for a pair of kings.

Katachalov filled up with the {9-Spades} on sixth and that left Kenney drawing dead to running quads which didn't come on his {J-Clubs} sixth street, or {Q-Clubs} seventh. Katchalov finished with the {8-Diamonds} and that would secure his double-up from Kenney.

Katchalov: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} / {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{9-Spades} / {8-Diamonds}
Kenney: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} / {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{K-Spades}{J-Clubs} / {Q-Clubs}

Massive Stud Pot to Mercier

Nível 13 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Stud

Jason Mercier was betting every street against two opponents, and nobody had much of anything on their boards. When Michael Mizrachi picked up three spades on sixth, he raised.

Jason Mercier: {x-}{x-} / {2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Michael Mizrachi: {x-}{x-} / {3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{k-Spades}
Josh Arieh: {x-}{x-} / {q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Josh Arieh had three suited cards as well and didn't go anywhere. Mercier came along as well, and everyone checked seventh. Mercier opened {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for a set of aces, and nobody could beat that.
