Event #14: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E.

Dia 1 Começado

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #14: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E.

Ian Johns is the Defending Champion
Ian Johns is the Defending Champion

At 11 a.m. local time, Day 1 of Event #14: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. will get underway at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. All players will receive 7,500 in chips to start and aim to spin them up and bag for the night after 10 levels of 60 minutes each. There will be a 20-minute break every two levels and a 90-minute dinner break after the end of Level 6, while the registration remains open until the cards are back in the air for Level 7 at approximately 7:10 p.m. local time.

The defending champion of this event is American poker pro Ian Johns. Last year Johns had a miracle comeback after starting Day 2 at the bottom of the counts to win his second World Series of Poker bracelet, defeating a 778-entry strong field. Johns topped Justin Bonomo heads-up for a payday of $212,604 and went on to add another golden bracelet in 2016 to his collection with a victory in the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship. Johns has already been in action this year and finished 12th in Event #7: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball.

Five different game types will be played during this tournament and change every orbit: limit hold'em, Omaha hi-lo, razz, seven-card stud and seven-card stud hi-lo. Some of the best mixed game players from near and far are expected to join the action and will determine the champion over the course of the next three days.

Schwartz Loses Small Pot

Nível 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Picking up the action on the {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts} turn, Ylon Schwartz bet in the small blind and after the cutoff raised, Schwartz called. The {10-Clubs} river completed the board and Schwartz checked, then quickly called the bet of his opponent.

Schwartz was shown {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and had to look twice, then mucked after failing to beat the wheel of the cutoff.

"No More Razz Please"

Nível 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

Razz

In the first hand of razz on their table, defending champion Ian Johns had the bring in with the {J-Hearts} and Norman Chad completed with the {7-Hearts}. It folded back around to Johns and he mucked {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} face up. "Okay, no more razz please," Johns joked and the pot was shipped to Chad.

Johns, a three-time bracelet winner, is most definitely one to watch and will aim to defend the title in this tournament and make it four career WSOP bracelets.

Martin Giving a Helping Hand

Nível 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jesse Martin is coming off his second WSOP bracelet win in Event #7: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw Lowball for $130,948. Just now Martin was seen helping out the dealer.

The player to his left didn't seem too pleased and was quite vocal in calling Martin out for the way he was speaking to the dealer. Martin noted that the dealer even thanked him for his help.

However the player wouldn't stop and said that Martin's first words were "Come on, dealer" to which Martin responded that after six times he felt it was necessary to say so. The player to Martin's right agreed with him and thought that the player to Martin's left was out of line.
