Alexandre Reard Leads Final Four in Event #90: $10,000 6-Handed No Limit Hold'em Championship

After another ten 60-minute levels of play on Day 3 in in Event #90: $10,000 6-Handed No Limit Hold'em Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas just four players remain from a start of day field of 30 hopefuls. Although this tournament was originally slated to play down to a winner on the third day, the unexpectedly large number of entries (550) necessitated the addition of a fourth and final day.
Leading those who remain is French WSOP bracelet winner Alexandre Reard, who, with a stack of 18,450,000, holds more than half of the chips in play. The other three players are all packed fairly close to one another with high stakes crusher Stephen Chidwick leading them on 6,950,000. Mixed game specialist AJ Kelsall managed to bag 4,500,000 while Justin Liberto brings up the rear on 3,100,000.
All four players will be vying for the $1,057,663 first-place prize, which represents the lion's share of the $5,115,000 prize pool. That prize will accompany a coveted WSOP gold bracelet. So while they have all locked up at least $306,555, there is still a lot to play for.
One individual who will not be contending for the title is the chip leader coming into the day, Jamie O'Connor. He suffered a frustrating time on the felt and ultimately fell in 14th place after his flopped middle pair came up short against Reard's top pair.
Other notables who saw their deep runs come to an end on Day 3 include Day 1 chip leader Tobias Schwecht (18th - $41,748), GG Poker Brazil team member Felipe Ramos (13th - $51,951) and all-time WSOP bracelet leader Phil Hellmuth (9th - $86,118).

Final Table Action
Play continued at a fairly steady pace throughout the day, and as a result, the official final table of six was set shortly after the dinner break when Michael Rossitto fell in seventh place, his king-queen dominated by Kelsall's big slick.
At that point, things did slow down significantly, with just two more eliminations in the final three levels. Eric Baldwin was the unfortunate first casualty of the final table when he ran straight into Reard's jacks.
Next to go was Eli Berg after a rampant Reard made maximum use of jacks for a second time.
Although there was still over an hour of play left at that point, the remaining players became more cagey. In addition, the short stacks seemed to have picked up extra equity from somewhere as they doubled up, at times coming from behind to do so on several occasions. Ultimately, the end of the night was reached with four remaining.
Play resumes at 1:00 p.m. local time on July 17th in Level 31 with blinds of 125,000/250,000 with a 250,000 big blind ante.

Justin Liberto limped from the small blind and Stephen Chidwick checked his option from the big blind.
Chidwick called a 200,000 bet from Liberto on the 9♦2♣3♥ flop and 600,000 bet from Liberto on the 10♦ turn.
Both players checked on the 7♥ river and Liberto tabled Q♦6♦. Chidwick held 5♠3♠ for a pair of treys and collected the pot.

Kelsall Doubles Again

Alexander Reard raised to a bit over 500,000 from the small blind and AJ Kelsall shoved for his last 3,150,000 from the big blind. Reard called and hands were revealed.

Justin Liberto opened to 400,000 on the button and was called by Alexandre Reard in the big blind.
Reard checked following the 4♥J♣2♠ flop and Liberto continued for 275,000. The Frenchman made the call to see a turn.
The J♠ turn saw Reard take over the betting lead by firing off 325,000. Liberto responded with a raise to 925,000 which his opponent called.
The 4♣ river double paired the board but that did not stop Reard betting big, making it 1,500,000 to call. Liberto thought for quite some time before committing calling chips but was shown the bad news after Reard turned over 6♣4♦ for the full house to claim a decent portion of Liberto's stack.

Reard Picks Off Bluff

Stephen Chidwick limped in the small blind and then called after Alexandre Reard raised to 750,000 in the big blind.
Action checked through the 5♣4♠10♣ flop to the 7♦ turn at which point both players checked once more.
The Q♣ rolled off the deck on the river and saw Chidwick bet 575,000. Reard wasted little time making the call and showed down 6♦4♦ for bottom pair, good enough to scoop the pot.
