Do You Know Which Poker Player Just Set the Record of Cashing Seven Consecutive Live WSOP Main Events?

Nível 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was the largest in history with 10,043 players, and for one player it proved to be a record-extending affair. From 2010-14, poker pro Ronnie Bardah cashed the WSOP Main Event a record five times, which was recognized on various ESPN broadcasts. However, that record seems to have fallen by the wayside as first brought to light by @TARKPOKER on Twitter.

You see, one player has managed to cash the WSOP Main Event, at least the live version, a record seven consecutive times (2016-23). The pandemic threw a monkey wrench into things in 2020 with the WSOP concocting an online-live hybrid Main Event, so technically this player didn’t cash every year. However, he has cashed the last seven live Main Events, an unrivaled accomplishment.

Goldklang Strikes Gold on the River

Nível 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Connor Drinan limped his button and Dustin Goldklang checked the big blind. On a flop of 6J7, Goldklang led for a bet of 200,000 and Drinan called. Goldklang then upped the sizing to a pot-sized 820,000 on the 10 turn, and once again Drinan matched the bet.

The river then fell the K and both players now checked. "Flush," announced Goldklang, while tabling his A842. Drinan asked the dealer to push his opponent's cards closer, took a good look at them, shook his head, and uttered "nice hand," before adding his cards to the muck and forfeiting the pot.

Levenberry Takes It Down

Nível 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

A late position player limped as did Cuba Levenberry on the button, Dustin Goldklang in the small blind and Ian Matakis in the big blind, leading to a Q5A flop.

Goldklang led out with a bet of 150,000 and got called only by Levenberry on the button to bring the 10 out on the turn.

Action checked through and both players watched the A land on the river.

Goldklang checked to Levenberry who tossed out a bet of 475,000. Goldklang quickly folded and Levenberry took the pot down uncontested.

Goldklang Shows the Bluff

Nível 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Dustin Goldklang
Dustin Goldklang

Matthew Parry had raised preflop from the cutoff and button Lawrence Wayne and big blind Dustin Goldklang came along for a flop, creating a pot of 900,000. When it was fanned out 2Q10, they all checked, leading to a 3 appearing on the turn.

Goldklang now led for 700,000 chips and both Parry and Wayne put in the same amount for a call. The 6 river then completed the board and Goldklang continued with the aggression for a massive pot-sized bet of 3,000,000 chips. Both of his opponents found this too much and mucked their cards.

Goldklang then held his cards in the air in dramatic fashion, whereupon Connor Drinan exclaimed "Do it! Show the bluff!"

"I don't care," Goldklang replied, and tabled AJ42 for just a pair of deuces.

"I f**king love it," said Drinan while Goldklang scooped in the newly won chips.

Drinan Does Not Believe

Nível 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Lawrence Wayne raised to 240,000 from the button and Connor Drinan was the only caller from the small blind. The pair then checked through the 8A7 flop before a turn of 4 was dealt. Drinan checked again but this time Wayne bet out 400,000 chips. Drinan made the call and the two were off to the river.

When it fell the 6, Drinan checked once more and Wayne put in 500,000 chips. Drinan instantly called and Drinan declared "nothing," as he showed his Q10106 for a pair of tens. Drinan then tabled his A753 for an eight-high straight and won the pot.

Matakis Pads His Chip Lead with Some of Lagaze's Chips

Nível 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

Ian Matakis raised to 230,000 from the cutoff and got a called by Marc Lagaze on the button leading to a J68 flop.

Matakis checked to Lagaze who tossed out a bet for 425,000. Matakis called and watched as the dealer put the 2 out on the turn.

Matakis checked to Lagaze who counted out a bet of 930,000. Matakis paused briefly as he contemplated his action then, after a minute or so, he announced pot to the dealer, amounting to a bet size big enough to put Lagaze all in.

Lagaze entered the tank and sprent a full three to four minutes there, often times looking up at Matakis in an apparent attempt to get a read. Ultimately, he elected to toss his cards into the muck and allow Matakis to extend his chip lead further in his attempt to essentially lock up Player of the Year honors.
