Cavanagh Rivers a Straight to Eliminate Liu

There was a flurry of preflop raises between three players that saw JJ Liu all in for her last 38,000 chips. There was a side pot between John Cavanagh and Jameson Painter still up for grabs.

The action checked through the A♦7♠6♦ flop as well as the 3♣ on the turn. The 8♥ completed the board and Cavanagh threw in a bet. Painter called and Cavanagh tabled 5♣4♣ for a straight to win the side pot.

JJ Liu tabled A♠9♥ for just one pair and Cavanagh took the main pot as well, sending Liu to the payout desk.

Taylor Bursts Bubble Just Before Dinner

Kevin Kerber pushed the last of his chips in on the button and was called by Thomas Taylor in the big blind. They waited in anticipation as the action finished at the other tables.

Once given the okay, both players revealed their holdings.

Thomas Taylor: A♣10♣

Surrounding players couldn't help but crane their necks as the board ran out 10♥9♦8♣, pushing Taylor into the lead with a pair of tens. The turn offered some chopportunities as the 7♥ rolled off but ultimately Kerber took a beat as the Q♦ completed the board.

Players only had a minute and thirty seconds left on the clock when the bubble burst, much to the relief of the rest of the field, who are now guaranteed to take home at least $4,837.

Liu Doubles on the Bubble

JJ Liu raised it up on the button and John Cavanagh called from the big blind. The flop came K♥J♠2♠ and Cavanagh checked to Liu who continued with a bet. Cavanagh check-raised and Liu called off her stack of 11,000 chips.

Liu flopped a pair but Cavanagh had an over card or a straight draw he could hit. The 6♥ and 3♣ runout changed nothing and Liu held on for a double up.

Torry Makes a Flush

Maria Ho raised it up from under the gun and Alex Torry called from the big blind. The flop fell J♦10♠5♦ and Ho continued with a bet. Torry check-raised and Ho called.

The turn was the 10♦ and Torry led out with a bet. Ho still called and the Q♣ landed on the river. Torry checked this time and Ho knuckled it back. Torry tabled 7♦4♦ for a flush and Ho mucked her cards.

Over Throwing The Queen

Kyle Dilschneider was at his patience's end, as he had just lost a significant pot the hand prior and was left with dust on the stone bubble. Beyond agitated, he was ready to be the one who went home empty handed.

The very next hand, Dilschneider got the rest of his chips in the middle and chaos erupted, as they were hand for hand and both players attempted to reveal their cards, but action should have been paused in case any other tables might have a player at risk.

They did wait but Dilschneider couldn't help the kung fu grip he had on the cards, to the point they might be crumpled if he held them any tighter. Seemingly on accident from the literal tension, Dilschneider threw one of his cards off the table and past the ropes of the tournament area, as he was half standing in his seat.

It was easily retrievable and since they had already revealed their hands, the card was easily identified.

Clayton Mozdzen: A♣2♦

It seemed doom for Dilschneider as the flop came, A♦8♠9♦, by the time the 5♠ hit he was already halfway out of the tournament area, but when the 2♠ completed the board the table yelled him back over, as he had rivered a flush against Mozden's top pair.

Mozden did receive a warning from the floor for the airborne Q♠ and he was heard saying, 'I have no idea how that happened!", as obvious relief flushed through his system.

Kuo Takes Down Mortensen

Matthew Mortensen was one of the shortest stacks left in the tournament and raised it up on the button. Michael Kuo reraised in the big blind and Mortensen stuck in the last of his 27,000 chips. Kuo called and the cards were on their backs.

Mortensen was facing an uphill battle and the flop of J♦8♥7♦ provided some additional outs. The 4♥ on the turn and the A♦ on the river bricked out and Mortensen was eliminated.

The field is now down to 41 players and the hand-for-hand portion of the tournament is now underway.
