Hiroyuki Noda placed a bet of 5,000 on a board reading KKA55 and Benny Glaser took some time to mull it over before putting out a call. Noda tabled the A10 for top pair and Glaser quickly mucked his hand.

Glaser was coming off an extraordinary SCOOP series stepping into the WSOP and has already won a bracelet this year in the $10,000 2-7 Triple Draw.

Ray Henson raised it up from under the gun and Yi Klassen three-bet on his left. Thomas Taylor four-bet from the cutoff and both Henson and Klassen just called.

The flop fell J54 and Henson led out with a bet. Klassen folded but Taylor opted to raise. Henson three-bet and Taylor four-bet which led to Henson sticking in the last of his 10,000 chips on the flop.

Ray Henson: 1010
Thomas Taylor: AK

Henson had the lone pair but Taylor had two over cards and a flush draw. The 6 on the turn and the 4 on the river bricked out for Taylor and Henson doubled up.

On a board reading A5Q7Q, Maria Ho placed a big bet of 5,000 and her opponent thought a moment before letting it go.

The table was a bit quiet as Ho scooped the pot, which prompted on of her table mates to start clapping.

Jokingly Ho responded, "I was waiting for the applause... what took you so long?"

Young Catches an Ace to Eliminate Kennedy

Nível 11 : Limits 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Brennan Kennedy raised it up from under the gun and picked up three callers along the way. The flop came J64 and Kennedy continued with a bet. All three of his opponents still called and the 8 landed on the turn.

Kennedy moved all in for his last 3,500 on the turn but nobody was willing to fold yet. The A completed the board and the action checked to Daniel Young on the button who threw in a bet. The rest of the table folded and Young tabled A4 for two pair. Kennedy was left with QQ and was forced to the rail in the early stages of Day 2.

Welcome Back for Day 2 of Event #58: $3,000 Limit Hold'em

JJ Liu
JJ Liu

Just like many other events at the 2023 World Series of Poker, there was another major influx of entries for Event #58: $3,000 Limit Hold'em. A total of 263 players entered this event, 50 more than the 213 that were recorded in the previous year. Some could say that is surprising for an "old-school" poker format, but there are more players playing any version of poker now than ever.

After 10 levels were completed on the opening day, just 115 players bagged up chips and will be returning to the felt for Day 2. Leading the pack will be Gregory Josephson who finished Day 1 with an impressive 241,000 chips. The only other player to eclipse the 200,000 chip mark was Daniel Maczuga with 217,500 chips.

Although having a big stack in this type of event will certainly have its advantages, applying pressure with it is not the same as a no-limit event. Some other names to keep an eye on toward the top of the leaderboard include Dan Shak (175,000), JJ Liu (165,000), and Michael Mizrachi (163,000).

The cards are slated to go back in the air at 1 p.m. PST with the blinds resuming on level 11. The blinds will be 1,500/3,000 while the limits will be 3,000/6,000. Another 10 levels are on the schedule today with each level being 60 minutes apiece. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after level 16.

The bubble is expected to burst at some point today with 40 players reaching the money. A min-cash in this event will be worth $4,837 but the lion's share of the $702,210 prizepool will be up for grabs when Day 3 rolls around. The winner will be taking home $165,250 along with the WSOP gold bracelet.

Keep it tuned in here as the PokerNews live reporting team will have all your live updates throughout the next couple of days en route to crowning a champion.
