Matthew Su
Matthew Su

Matthew Su entered the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event final table on Friday with big dreams and a big stack. But he ran into some misfortune and was eliminated in ninth place.

The deep run paid out $850,675, his only live tournament score of any significance. Still, the high-stakes cash game player told PokerNews in his postgame interview that he was "disappointed" to have been just the second player out at the final table.

Heath Empties the Clip

Nível 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Jeremy Ausmus raised it up from under the gun and was called by Ben Heath on the button and by the big blind player. The flop came {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the action checked to Heath who bet 6,000. Both the big blind and Ausmus called to see the {4-Clubs} on the turn.

It checked to Heath again who fired in a bet of 21,500 this time. The big blind folded but Ausmus stuck around for the {10-Diamonds} on the river. Ausmus checked for the third time and Heath pushed out a bet of 150,000. Ausmus was sitting with around 100,000 in front of him and decided to save it for another hand.

Calamusa Extracts Big Value

Nível 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

On a four-way turn of {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}, after action had checked around, the button bet 12,000 but then was check-raised by Pierre Calamusa in the small blind to 30,000.

The button called and they saw the river {2-Hearts}. Calamusa then led out for a big bet of 65,000 and sent the button into the tank.

After a good while, the button slammed his chips in the middle for a call. Calamusa then turned over {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for one pair, queens.

The button checked his hand one more time before he shook his head and threw them into the muck.

Guilbert and Plante Try Some Odd Sizings

Nível 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Santiago Plante raised to 4,000 from the hijack and was called by Johan Guilbert in the big blind. The flop came {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Guilbert checked to Plante who made a large bet of 14,000. Guilbert called and the {9-Diamonds} paired the board on the turn.

Both players checked and the {10-Spades} completed the board. Guilbert went with the opposite sizing, betting 2,000 on the river. Plante laughed as he tossed in the {6-Spades}{4-Spades}, sending the pot to Guilbert.
