Final 41 Chase the Money on Day 3 of Poker Players Championship, Beginning at 2 p.m.

Dan Cates
Dan Cates

With 17 of the final 41 players in the largest $50,000 Poker Players Championship since 2013 earning a payday in the event, Tuesday’s Day 3 will likely see that money bubble burst as the elite of poker’s mixed game community ramp up their chase of WSOP glory, a prestigious bracelet, the $1,449,103 first prize and the already legendary Chip Reese Memorial Trophy.

Bryn Kenney may be a controversial figure in the poker community these days, but there’s no denying his ability on the felt, which he’s shown through the first two days to take the chip lead into Day 3 with 2,064,000 chips. Michael Moncek, who currently sits tenth in the WSOP Player of the Year race comes in second in chips with 1,702,000.

They’ll be closely chased by a who’s who of mixed game crushers including Yuri Dzivielevski, Benny Glaser, and Adam Friedman, who all highlight the top ten chip counts entering the day.

Among those with steeper climbs ahead of them Tuesday are six-time WSOP bracelet winner and two-time Player of the Year Daniel Negreanu (318,000), 2007 PPC champion Freddy Deeb (175,000), and 2021 “Mini PPC” ($2,500 Nine-Game Mix) Champion Nicholas Julia (61,000)

Michael Mizrachi raised to 18,000 in the cutoff and was three-bet to 65,000 by Yuri Dzivielevski on the button.

Mizrach then came back with a four-bet to 200,000 and Dzivielevski moved all in for Mizrachi's last 639,000.

"The Grinder" called and a huge flip was brewing with the three-time PPC champion's run at a fourth title at risk.

Michael Mizrachi: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Yuri Dzivielevski: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board of {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs} ran out clean for Mizrachi as he continues his quest for another title.

No-Limit Hold'em

Michael Mizrachi raised to 20,000 and called a three-bet to 65,000 from Yuri Dzivielevski. The flop was {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Mizrachi bet 30,000. Dzivielevski called.

The turn was the {a-Spades}.

"What's the minimum bet?" asked Mizrachi, before betting 8,000. Dzivielevski called.

"That's the cutest play I've ever seen," remarked Cates as the river came the {2-Hearts}. Mizrachi again bet 8,000 and Dzivielevski called. Mizrachi showed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} but the Brazilian won the pot with {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

"You get points for making it cute," said Brandon Cantu as the table burst out laughing. "That was amazing."

"In No-Limit you can bet whatever you want," said Cates. "That's the cool thing about No-Limit."

Negreanu Survives With a Chop

Nível 13 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Limit Hold'em

Johannes Becker opened with a raise in early position and was three-bet in the cutoff by Julien Martini. Daniel Negreanu then four-bet from his short stack and pulled out his vlogging phone (which is on a sturdy new support stick with a solid rubber handle).

Both his opponents called to see a flop of {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Action was checked to Negreanu, who bet with less than a bet left behind and was called in both spots.

On the {4-Spades} turn, it was action checked to Negreanu who put in his last 23,000, and again he was called in both spots.

The river brought the {3-Diamonds}, and after Becker checked, Martini bet, prompting a fold from Becker.

Martini showed {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}, while Negreanu was ahead of him until the river with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}, but had to settle for a chop as each made a wheel, keeping him alive, but still under 200,000 chips.

The flop was {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Cantu checked and Cates continued for 25,000. Cantu check-raised to 75,000 and Cates called.

Cantu bet 125,000 on the {7-Spades} river and Cates called. Both players checked the {j-Diamonds} river and Cates tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Spades} for a flush and took down the pot.

A short-stacked Phil Ivey saw his chips trickle in with the {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and he was dominated by the {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Scott Seiver. The board ran out {k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} and the kicker played to send Ivey to the rail and reduce the field to the final six tables.

Negreanu Terrifies Room; Doubles Up

Nível 13 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

After Julien Martini raised to 25,000 on the button, Daniel Negreanu moved all in on the small blind for 214,000. Scott Bohlman then called in the big blind and Martini folded.

Out came the vlogging equipment, and Negreanu explained to his camera that he had a tough decision to make with a hand he's seen four or five times. After a couple of minutes, Negreanu opted to break a {10-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}.

Bohlman showed {10-}{9-}{6-}{4-}{2-}, prompting a gutteral but somewhat light-hearted scream of frustration from Negreanu, knowing he broke the best hand and would need to make a hand.

From several tables over, Adam Friedman playfully commented "everybody duck!"

At another table, Daniel Weinman joked "I feel unsafe."

Negreanu then squeezed his new card which was a three-across, and he happily turned over the {6-Spades}, to make a seven-six to double up and stay alive in the tournament.

No-Limit Hold'em

After rebuilding his short stack to 600,000, Freddy Deeb was again short-stacked and down to his last 119,000, which he moved in from the cutoff, only to be called by defending champion Dan Cates.

Freddy Deeb: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Dan Cates: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{7-Clubs}, sending Deeb to the rail and thwarting his comeback bid.

"Macho Man Dan don't f*** around" exclaimed Cates, as he dragged enough chips to vault him to the two million chip mark.

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

David "ODB" Baker raised to 30,000 and Scott Seiver moved all in for his last 55,000. Action folded back to Baker who called.

Baker drew two, while Seiver needed just one.

Seiver showed he was drawing to {10-}{9-}{7-}{4-}, and after Baker revealed that he had made a {10-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, Seiver saw he was drawing dead and mucked his cards before leaving the table.

Jean-Robert Bellande raised to 40,000 on the button. Stephen Chidwick raised to 135,000 in the small blind. David "ODB" Baker looked like he was considering something in the big blind ultimately folded.

Bellande called and saw a flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Chidwick immediately moved all in.

Bellande agonized over the decision, saying to Baker "I wish you had shoved so I could have just put it in."

In fact, he turned his hand {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} face over and continued: "This might be the worst fold of my life," he said, but ultimately he called.

Chidwick showed {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs} and held on the {5-Spades}{k-Hearts} runout, sending Bellande to the rail.
