Stephen Chidwick

The 2021 World Series of Poker is set to play host to the largest buy-in of its kind, Event #53: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed). This 4-day tournament is a marquee event on many poker players' calendars and one that you won't want to miss.

In 2019, Stephen Chidwick topped the 278-entry field to capture his first WSOP gold bracelet. Chidwick outlasted the likes of James Chen, Robert Mizrachi, and Erik Seidel on the final table to take home the first-place prize of over $1.6 million. This high-roller event is bound to attract some of the biggest names in poker, including some players that specialize in pot-limit Omaha.

The action is slated to get underway at 3 p.m. local time with ten 60-minute levels on tap for Day 1. A starting stack of 150,000 chips and the blinds at 200/300 in the opening level will allow for a lot of maneuvering in the first few hours. The big blind ante will be in effect for this tournament and there will be 15-minute breaks after every two levels.

Late registration will remain open until the end of level 12, approximately 4:15 p.m. on Day 2. Each player will be given the opportunity of one re-entry, should their first one not go as planned. Day 2 will play another 10 levels, Day 3 will play down to five players, and a WSOP champion will be crowned on Day 4 of this event.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates throughout the tournament so keep it locked here for some of the greatest pot-limit Omaha action.

Jared Bleznick
Jared Bleznick

Jared Bleznick raised it up on the button and Ben Tollerene defended the big blind. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Tollerene check-called a bet of 1,500 from Bleznick.

The turn was the {5-Spades} and Tollerene checked again. Bleznick flicked in another bet of 5,000 and Tollerene stuck around to see the {7-Hearts} on the river. Tollerene checked for the third time and Bleznick fired in one more bet of 15,000. Tollerene called and Bleznick turned over {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for a king-high flush to scoop the pot.

Sandrock Stacks Two in Massive Pot

Nível 2 : 200/400, 400 ante
Chris Sandrock

Arthur Morris told PokerNews about a massive hand at the table involving Daniel Fuhs, Eric Hicks and Chris Sandrock.

Sandrock bet 60,000 when checked to on the flop of {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} with about 100,000 already in the middle and Fuhs raised all-in. Hicks also jammed and Sandrock called.

Daniel Fuhs: {a-}{a-}{k-}{j-}
Eric Hicks: {q-}{j-}{9-}{7-}
Chris Sandrock: {a-Hearts}{k-}{k-}{3-Hearts}

Sandrock was drawing to the nut flush and hit it as the board ran out {j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} to send two opponents to the rail in just the second level of play.

"That was an over 1,000-big blind pot," tablemate Chris Brewer noted in disbelief.

Brewer announced "pot" on the {7-Spades} river and put in the bet of 40,500. Morris called and Brewer showed {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for queens full of tens and took down the pot.

Le Eliminated by Brewer

Nível 4 : 300/600, 600 ante
Tommy Le
Tommy Le

On a flop of {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Tommy Le ended up at risk with the {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a straight draw and back door heart draw. Chris Brewer looked him up with the {x-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a set of fives and prevailed when the {8-Clubs} turn and {7-Spades} river provided no help to Le.

He will, however, be able to re-enter as the tournament features a single re-entry option.

Lautaro Guerra
Lautaro Guerra

After a couple of limps, Lautaro Guerra raised to 5,200 in the cutoff. Josh Arieh called from early position as did the hijack. The flop came {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and the action checked to Guerra who bet 10,500. Arieh called and the other player folded.

The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} and Arieh checked again. Guerra threw in another bet of 27,000 and Arieh eventually called. The {7-Diamonds} completed the board and both players knuckled the table.

"One pair," Arieh announced. Guerra turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for two pair and dragged in the pot.
