Dia 1 Começado

Stephen Chidwick

The 2021 World Series of Poker is set to play host to the largest buy-in of its kind, Event #53: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed). This 4-day tournament is a marquee event on many poker players' calendars and one that you won't want to miss.

In 2019, Stephen Chidwick topped the 278-entry field to capture his first WSOP gold bracelet. Chidwick outlasted the likes of James Chen, Robert Mizrachi, and Erik Seidel on the final table to take home the first-place prize of over $1.6 million. This high-roller event is bound to attract some of the biggest names in poker, including some players that specialize in pot-limit Omaha.

The action is slated to get underway at 3 p.m. local time with ten 60-minute levels on tap for Day 1. A starting stack of 150,000 chips and the blinds at 200/300 in the opening level will allow for a lot of maneuvering in the first few hours. The big blind ante will be in effect for this tournament and there will be 15-minute breaks after every two levels.

Late registration will remain open until the end of level 12, approximately 4:15 p.m. on Day 2. Each player will be given the opportunity of one re-entry, should their first one not go as planned. Day 2 will play another 10 levels, Day 3 will play down to five players, and a WSOP champion will be crowned on Day 4 of this event.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates throughout the tournament so keep it locked here for some of the greatest pot-limit Omaha action.

Nguyen Wins a Big One Against Suarez

Nível 1 : 200/300, 300 ante

Andrew Nguyen was the initial raiser on the button and Anton Suarez stuck around out of the big blind. Suarez check-called for 3,600 on the {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop and then check-raised the {8-Hearts} turn from 4,700 to 20,000. Nguyen gave it some consideration and called, which led them to the {3-Clubs} on the river.

Suarez checked the third street in a row and Nguyen now bet 27,600. It only took around 15 seconds and the cards of Suarez flew into the muck.

Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

Niklas Astedt opened in middle position and Arthur Morris on the button and Chris Brewer in the big blind both called.

All three players checked on the flop of {3-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Morris bet 1,200 when checked to on the {7-Clubs} turn. Brewer called and Astedt folded.

Brewer checked on the {j-Hearts} river and Morris checked back. Brewer showed {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a flush and took down the pot. He had flopped a straight flush draw and just missed it on the turn.

Kornuth Takes an Early Pot

Nível 1 : 200/300, 300 ante

Chance Kornuth raised the pot to 1,100 in the cutoff and was called by Roussos Koliakoudakis on the button. The two players went heads-up to a flop of {j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Kornuth checked to Koliakoudakis who bet 2,000 and Kornuth called.

The {q-Clubs} on the turn slowed the action as both players checked to the {j-Diamonds} on the river. Kornuth led out with a small bet of 1,000 and Koliakoudakis raised to 8,000. Kornuth responded with a re-raise to 28,000 and Koliakoudakis quickly mucked his cards.
