Josh Arieh

While a cold front might have swept through Las Vegas recently, the poker action at The Rio has remained red hot.

Today, look for that trend to continue with Day 2 of Event #27: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. where 199 players are set to return out of a starting field of 594. Today, all remaining entrants are scheduled to play ten 60-minute levels. There will be a 15-minute break every two levels, with a 60-minute dinner break after level 21 (~8:30 p.m. (PST) local time).

Amongst the 199 remaining talents, there are numerous previous bracelet winners in search of another piece of jewellery for their case. A handful of those past gold gatherers near the top in chips includes Josh Arieh (2x Winner; 171,000 chips), John Monnette (4x Winner; 162,500 chips), Barry Greenstein (3x winner; 148,500 chips), and Jason Somerville (1x winner; 110,000 chips). Look for these top poker professionals to keep everyone on their toes as they navigate their way to a spot at the final table and a chance to repeat history.

Out of the 199 returnees, 90 of them will make the money and be going home with at least a $2,400 min-cash. One lucky participant, however, will be going home with the $160,636 first-place cash prize alongside a coveted WSOP gold bracelet. Which one of these talented players will make it all the way to the winner's circle? Stay tuned in to PokerNews to find out.

Please join us here on PokerNews for continued live updates of this Event #27: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. as well as all WSOP events, or live here at The Rio where the cards will be back in the air at 2:00 p.m. (PST) local time.

Kao Chieng Saechao: {q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}/{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{2-Spades}/{q-Spades}

The action was picked up on sixth street with Hellmuth all-in and Saecho having tossed out another bet in his side pot against Rodriguez. Eventually, Rodriguez bowed out and it was Saechao and Hellmuth's heads-up to seventh street with Hellmuth all-in and at risk.

When the cards were flipped over Hellmuth was in trouble as Saechao had completed a flush on fifth street. The meaningless last card was dealt face down to each player, who then flipped it face up and Hewllmuth was eliminated from the tournament.

Limit Hold'em

On a completed board of {2-Spades}{a-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Felipe Ramos all-in, Joe McKeehen pushed his last remaining 6,000 chips into the middle and was called by Frank Muir. It was McKeehen that earned the scoop as he tabled {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for a king-high spade flush, which eliminated Ramos who was holding {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, and subsequently, Muir tossed his cards into the muck.

The action was picked up as McKeehen had bet his last few remaining chips and was all-in on sixth street and Muir called. He was shown the bad news as McKeehen tabled his rolled-up fives, and had Muir drawing dead when he flipped over his final card as McKeehen had filled up with the winning hand, fives full of queens.
