It's another day at the 50th Annual World Series of Poker and the penultimate day of Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better will kick off at 2 p.m. local time. The tournament started with 842 players and there are 46 left on the third day. The remaining players are all guaranteed to cash for at least $3,853 but the winner of the tournament will take home a whopping $228,228. The plan for today is to play down to the final 6. Richard Fuller bagged the chip lead with 474,000 but he's closely followed by Clifford Schinkoeth (448,000), and Tom McCormick (400,000).

Day 2 started with 373 players and the first stop was playing down to the last 128 players where they would all reach the money. Players like Robert Mizrachi, Daniel Negreanu, Shaun Deeb, and Bart Lybaert didn't make it to the money while plenty of others did. Familiar names like Dan Heimiller (106th - $2,257) Scott Bohlman (99th - $2,355), Eli Elezra (97th - $2,355), Steven Wolansky (72nd - $2,996), David Bach (56th - $3,368), and Calen McNeil (54th - $3,853) all cashed the tournament but failed to find a bag at the end of Day 2.

There of plenty of familiar faces left in the tournament and one close to the top is 2017 Player of the Year runner-up Ben Yu. Yu bagged 294,000 at the end of the second day of play and that will be about 15 big bets at the start of Day 3 with the limits at 10,000/20,000 and blinds at 5,000/10,000. Other familiar faces include John Esposito (350,000), four-time WSOP gold bracelet winners Mike Matusow (215,000) and Jeff Madsen (125,000), Andrew Barber (111,000), and John Monette (71,000).

Play will resume at 2 p.m. local time with automatic shufflers in play and they will play down to the final six. Those final six return on Sunday, June 2nd, to play down to a winner who will take down the coveted gold bracelet and the first-place prize of $228,228.

PokerNews is on site to report on all the action until they bag up today.

Phelps Makes Worb Fold

Nível 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Curtis Phelps raised from late position to 20,000 and he was called by Blair Worb in the small blind and Stephen Tyson in the big blind.

The dealer collected the chips and spread out a {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. Small blind Worb bet 10,000 and Tyson got out of the way. Phelps stuck around to see the {5-Diamonds} turn. Worb bet another time as he put 20,000 in the middle and Phelps called him again.

The {6-Hearts} river completed the board and Worb slowed down with a check. Preflop raiser Phelps bet 20,000 and that made Worb fold.

Andrew Barber
Andrew Barber

Andrew Barber opened in middle position, Andrey Zaichenko defended his big blind and the dealer spread out {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} on the flop. Zaichenko check-called a bet from Barber and the {q-Spades} hit as a turn card.

Both players checked to the {3-Hearts} river and Zaichenko checked again. Barber pushed in a stack, Zaichenko snap-called and Barber tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Spades} for aces up. Zaichenko mucked and Barber scooped in the early pot.

Great Start for Shorr; Not for Matusow

Mike Matusow

Shannon Shorr had a great start of the day and the opposite could be said about Mike Matusow. The two just tangled in a small pot that went to Shorr.

Matusow raised to 20,000 from early position and Shorr called from late position. The others got out of the way and Matusow check-folded to a bet from Shorr on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop.

'The Mouth' has about three big bets left while Shorr has almost double.

Watkins Triples His Stack

Nível 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Eric Watkins called all in for his last 8,000, Jason Berilgen called on the button, Shannon Shorr called from the small blind and Mark Cunningham checked his big.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}, everyone checked down, a {4-Spades} came on the turn and a {9-Hearts} river. Watkins tabled {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for a wheel and all of his opponents mucked, shipping the pot to him.
