It's another day at the 50th Annual World Series of Poker and the penultimate day of Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better will kick off at 2 p.m. local time. The tournament started with 842 players and there are 46 left on the third day. The remaining players are all guaranteed to cash for at least $3,853 but the winner of the tournament will take home a whopping $228,228. The plan for today is to play down to the final 6. Richard Fuller bagged the chip lead with 474,000 but he's closely followed by Clifford Schinkoeth (448,000), and Tom McCormick (400,000).

Day 2 started with 373 players and the first stop was playing down to the last 128 players where they would all reach the money. Players like Robert Mizrachi, Daniel Negreanu, Shaun Deeb, and Bart Lybaert didn't make it to the money while plenty of others did. Familiar names like Dan Heimiller (106th - $2,257) Scott Bohlman (99th - $2,355), Eli Elezra (97th - $2,355), Steven Wolansky (72nd - $2,996), David Bach (56th - $3,368), and Calen McNeil (54th - $3,853) all cashed the tournament but failed to find a bag at the end of Day 2.

There of plenty of familiar faces left in the tournament and one close to the top is 2017 Player of the Year runner-up Ben Yu. Yu bagged 294,000 at the end of the second day of play and that will be about 15 big bets at the start of Day 3 with the limits at 10,000/20,000 and blinds at 5,000/10,000. Other familiar faces include John Esposito (350,000), four-time WSOP gold bracelet winners Mike Matusow (215,000) and Jeff Madsen (125,000), Andrew Barber (111,000), and John Monette (71,000).

Play will resume at 2 p.m. local time with automatic shufflers in play and they will play down to the final six. Those final six return on Sunday, June 2nd, to play down to a winner who will take down the coveted gold bracelet and the first-place prize of $228,228.

PokerNews is on site to report on all the action until they bag up today.

Great Start for Shorr; Not for Matusow

Nível 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Shannon Shorr had a great start of the day and the opposite could be said about Mike Matusow. The two just tangled in a small pot that went to Shorr.

Matusow raised to 20,000 from early position and Shorr called from late position. The others got out of the way and Matusow check-folded to a bet from Shorr on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop.

'The Mouth' has about three big bets left while Shorr has almost double.

Todd Gozur
Todd Gozur

Patrick Leonard in the big blind, Joseph Aronesty in the hijack, and Todd Gozur in the cutoff all had two bets in the middle before the {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop was dealt.

It checked to Gozur and he bet 12,000. Leonard called and so did Aronesty. The {q-Spades} was rolled off the deck on the turn and Leonard lead out with a bet of 24,000. Aronesty got out of the way but Gozur wanted to see a river.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and Leonard checked to Gozur. Gozur bet 24,000 and that was enough to push Leonard out of the pot and scoop it all.

Tom McCormick

The flop showed {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Scott Abrams pushed in a bet and Tom McCormick made it two. Abrams pushed in three bets, McCormick shoved in four bets and Abrams called for his remaining stack, players turned over their hands.

Abrams tabled {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for top pair with the second nut low draw and McCormick had two pair when he showed {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}. An {a-Diamonds} peeled off as a turn, giving Abrams a higher two pair but also giving McCormick the better low in the process.

The river came down a {4-Clubs} and Abrams stood up as McCormick filled up for the high to go with his low, scooping the pot from Abrams who was now eliminated in 23rd place for $6,405.

Shorr Winning More Chips

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante
Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr

Shannon Shorr is firing away and he just won another big pot that left Andrey Zaichenko with just one big bet.

Shorr opened the action with a raise to 40,000 and Zaichenko called from the cutoff. Big blind Patrick Leonard called as well.

The flop was {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and all three players checked their option. The turn was the {q-Spades} and Shorr bet after Leonard had checked to him. Zaichenko stuck around to see the river but the British pro got out of the way.

The {q-Clubs} river completed the board with no low possibilities and Shorr fired another 40,000 bet. Zaichenko lifted up his cards and he mucked them, visibly frustrated.

Zaichenko has just one big bet behind now.

The flop read {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, Stephen Tyson bet out and Ben Yu elected to put in two bets. Tyson called and the dealer flipped over a {k-Diamonds} as the turn card.

Tyson pushed in a bet, leaving just 1,000 behind and Yu only called. The {3-Spades} hit the felt as a river, Tyson moved his last 1,000 into the pot, Yu quickly called and turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a full house.

Tyson said "Nice hand," as he stood up and threw his cards face up into the muck, revealing {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for some missed draws with a pair of nines. Yu took down the pot, sending Tyson out in 18th place.
