Welcome to Day 1 of Event #21: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship

Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) for Day 1 of Event #21: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship.

The 4th Annual WSOP back in 1973 featured the first 2-7 Lowball event, and since then, it has been one of the most popular events each year for the seasoned tournament veterans and Bobby's Room regulars. The honor board for this event reads like a true who's-who of the poker world as everyone will one day be a candidate for the Poker Hall of Fame.

In 2007 and 2008, the No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw World Championship was run as a $5,000 buy-in tournament with unlimited re-entry, and Erik Seidel and Mike Matusow won those events.

In 2009, the format switched to a $10,000 buy-in and Nick Schulman collected his first of two WSOP gold bracelets before repeating in 2012. Since then, the likes of Jesse Martin, Paul Volpe, Phil Galfond, Jason Mercier, and John Monnette have all collected the WSOP gold bracelet in this event.

Last year in 2018, Brian Rast collected his fourth WSOP gold bracelet after defeating Mike Wattel heads-up, and on a final table featuring Dario Sammartino (3rd), James Alexander (4th), Shawn Sheikhan (5th), Doyle Brunson (6th), and John Hennigan (7th).
