Just ten remain in the hunt for World Series of Poker glory after Day 2 of Event #67: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Bounty saw the field narrowed from 125 to the unofficial final table. After ten levels of play the player with the best shot at the title is the end of day chipleader, Matt O'Donnell.

O'Donnell bagged a sizeable lead with 985,000 going into the bag overnight. O'Donnell shot up the counts after benefitting from a massive pot when he and three of his tablemates piled a pot-sized bet in the middle preflop during the latter part of the day. A {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop fanned out and all of the chips went in the middle.

Florian Duta: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Michal Maryška: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Christopher Schneider: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Matt O'Donnell: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}

The {4-Hearts} on the turn gave O'Donnell a wheel and it held through the {10-Clubs} on the river to scoop the 600k+ pot and pick up two bounties from Schneider and Duta and also double the remainder of his stack through Maryška. Maryška would persevere and bag a top-five stack reaching Day's end with 633,000.

Following O'Donnell is Anderson Ireland with 864,000, Hai Chu (703,000), Jameson Painter (634,000), Jonathan Thomas (598,000), and Andrew Holland (572,000).

With Day 1 ending as the money bubble popped, Day 2 began with 125 hopefuls already guaranteed to walk away with a prize. Eric Baldwin (118th), Perry Friedman (117th), Sebastian Pauli (101st), Aaron Mermelstein (98th), Benny Glaser (89th), Nipun Java (86th), and Robert Mizrachi (83rd) were just a few of the notables to bust before the first break.

The action didn't slow down with about another 40 players departing within the next two levels. The start-of-day chipleader, Robert Oxenberg (79th), was one such player along with Justin Young (68th), Ivan Deyra (65th), Mark Gregorich (55th), and Jeff Gross (54th).

David Williams lost a sizeable pot to Painter when he potted a flop that Painter had made top two-pair on. Williams had tons of straight outs but was drawing dead on the turn when Painter improved to a full house. Williams was unable to spin his remaining four big blind stack up and busted in 39th place with a handful of bounty chips in his pocket.

The final ten players will return for action on Day 3 on Sunday, July 8, with blinds at 6,000/12,000. The cards will hit the felt at 2pm with play continuing until the last player is standing.

Stay tuned to the PokerNews blog as the team will be on the floor providing live coverage until the last card comes off the deck and the WSOP's latest champion is crowned.

Tom West

Tom West got his remaining 120,000 chips in on a flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Anderson Ireland made the call to put him at risk and the hands were turned over.

Tom West: {3-}{3-}{10-}{4-}
Anderson Ireland: {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Ireland was in the lead with two pair and the {7-Spades}{j-Hearts} run out would change nothing and West is our 11th place finisher.

Igor Yaroshevskyy

A couple hands after Igor Yaroshevskyy lost the majority of his stack to Jameson Painter in an all in preflop situation, Matt O'Donnell has claimed the rest.

The chips went in on the flop of a {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board with Yaroshevskyy tabling the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} and O'Donnell having the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

A {5-Clubs}{7-Hearts} run out was no help to Yaroshevskyy who fell in 13th place.

On a flop of {j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Diamonds} Fernando Brunca shoved all-in for his remaining 51,500 into a pot of around 30,000 and the action was on Hai Chu who thought for a minute before making the call.

Fernando Brunca: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Hai Chu: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

Bruca's set of queens appeared to be in good shape but the {10-Spades}{9-Spades} runout gave Chu the nut flush and Brunca is eliminated in 18th.

Chu Shoots Over a Million

Nível 17 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Hai Chu
Hai Chu

Catching the action on the river in a large pot with around 50,000 in the middle, the board read {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Romain Lewis led out for 40,500 in the small blind, and Chris Meyers called in the big blind.

Hai Chu then raised on the button to 160,000, Lewis thought for a few moments before making the call, and Meyers went into the tank. After a few minutes, the clock was called, and after the 10 second countdown began, Meyers mucked his hand.

Chu rolled over {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for queens full of fives and Lewis mucked as Chu scooped the monster pot and eclipses the one million mark.

Meyers was eliminated a few hands later.
