Welcome Back to Day 2 of Event #46: $2,500 Mixed Omaha/Stud Hi-Lo

Chips
Chips

There will be 152 players returning to their seats when the action resumes at 2:00 p.m. local time for Event #46: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better. In search of his seventh World Series of Poker gold bracelet, Daniel Negreanu is still in the hunt after bagging 42,200 chips on Day 1.

Negreanu will find himself seated at the same table as other bracelet winners, Marco Johnson (28,000) and Cyndy Violette (42,500) to start the day. They will all be chasing Sergio Ramirez, who ended Day 1 with a whopping 139,700 chips. Some other notables to keep an eye on throughout the day include Eric Rodawig (123,400), Kate Hoang (76,900), Scott Abrams (74,400), Robert Mizrachi (62,500), Scott Clements (46,700), and a short-stacked Phil Ivey with 8,100 chips.

It will still be quite some time until the money bubble is reached with only 61 players getting paid. In a game where there is a lot of pots being chopped, the eliminations will be fewer and farther in between. When the players do reach the money, a min-cash will be worth $3,736 while the players at the top of the leaderboard will have their sights set on the $214,291 first-place prize.

The action will resume on level 11 and the schedule dictates another ten 60-minute levels to be played today. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after the sixth level. At the end of ten levels, the remaining players will bag their chips to return for Day 3, the final day where a champion will be crowned.

Hoang Doubles Through Jones

Nível 13 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Kate Hoang
Kate Hoang

Stud Hi-Lo

It's been a rough level for Kate Hoang who dropped from her once-prominent stack down to just over 6,000 chips.

In a recent hand, Daniel Jones completed holding the {3-Hearts}. Hoang raised with her {Q-Hearts}. Jones made it three bets and Hoang moved all in for 6,300. Jones called.

Kate Hoang: {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}/{Q-Hearts}
Daniel Jones: {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}/{3-Hearts}

Hoang was in the lead with her pair of queens but Jones had three low cards to start. Here's how their board completed.

Kate Hoang: {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}/{Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}/{2-Clubs}
Daniel Jones: {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}/{3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}/{x-}

Jones Made two pair but Hoang made a better two pair. Jones never completed a low either, so Hoang was able to scoop the pot to double up, despite the rough level she's had so far.

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Stud Hi-Lo

A short-stacked Daniel Negreanu stuck around for a bit but was just recently done in by Tyler Groth. Negreanu completed, moving all in for 2,400 with the {9-Diamonds} and Groth called with the {8-Spades}. Another player called with the {4-Hearts} but folded on fourth street when Groth bet into the heads-up pot.

Negreanu and Groth's boards ran out like so.

Tyler Groth: {9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}/{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}/{A-Hearts}
Daniel Negreanu: {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}/{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}/{3-Spades}

Groth made a pair on fourth street but Negreanu was still in the lead. He stayed in the lead all the way up to seventh street when Groth revealed his {A-Hearts}. Negreanu needed to improve but he couldn't find the nine he needed to do so, so he was sent to the rail before the money bubble.

Joao Vieira

Stud Hi-Lo

Joao Vieira: {x-}{x-}/{A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Maxim Panyak: {x-}{x-}/{5-Clubs}{K-Spades}

Action was on fourth street in a three-way pot. Joao Vieira put out a bet and Maxim Panyak raised, making it two bets. The other player in the hand folded and Vieira asked for a count before making it three bets. Panyak moved all in and Vieira called. Vieira had {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} under while Panyak held {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Here's how their board ran out:

Joao Vieira: {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}/{A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}/{10-Clubs}
Maxim Panyak: {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} /{5-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}/{8-Hearts}

Panyak made a pair of eights on seventh which meant that Vieira had a slew of outs to send Panyak to the rail. Vieira sweated and peeled the {10-Clubs} and it was just enough to earn him the pot while Panyak was sent to the rail just before the bubble.

Omaha Hi-Lo

Hani Awad, Chip Jett, and Paul Sokoloff were all headed to flop when we approached the table. The flop was {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Jett checked to Sokoloff who bet. Awad called and Jet folded.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Sokoloff decided to lead out. Awad then raised, making it two bets and Sokoloff muttered too himself, asking why he bet before calling.

Awad showed down his {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for two different full houses. Sokoloff kept muttering and showed his {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} for a lesser full house.

That left Sokoloff with right around 7,000 chips and he got them all in on the next hand against Chip Jett. Jett ended up making a flush on the river and sending Sokoloff to the payout desk.
