Nicholas Seiken Leads Final 16 in $1,500 Eight-Game Mix; Bach, Racener, Negreanu, Matusow in Contention

Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and the 2018 World Series of Poker for Day 3 of the Event #22: $1,500 Eight Game Mix!

Two days ago a field of 481 players took to the felt to battle in one of the few smaller buy-in mixed games events on the WSOP schedule. After one full day of play, just 134 players remained, and e Amnon Filippi (71st), Benny Glaser (64th), Ylon Schwartz (54th), Chip Jett (42nd), Jon Turner (38th), Scott Seiver (34th), Fabrice Soulier (30th), Dylan Linde (24th), Valentin Vornicu (23rd), Ben Yu (22nd), and James Obst (20th) were among those hitting the rail throughout Day 2, just 16 players remained.

Leading the final 16 players is Nicholas Seiken who bagged 360,000 to be ahead of Philip Long (357,000), Jean Montury (345,000), and Nicholas Derke (338,000) as the only players over the 300,000-chip mark.

Also in contention is three-time WSOP bracelet winner David Bach (263,000), John Racener (226,500), Anthony Zinno (198,000), two-time WSOP Player of the Year Daniel Negreanu (126,000), and four-time WSOP bracelet winner Mike Matusow (83,000).

Players are currently guaranteed $6,072, and a visit to the final table will see them guaranteed to earn at least $19,404. For the player who can ascend to the top and be crowned the Event #22 champion, that will not only earn the elusive WSOP bracelet, but the $147,348 first prize.

From the button, Daniel Negreanu raised to 15,000 before David Bach announced a reraise of pot to 47,500 form the big blind.

Negreanu called, and the flop landed {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Bach bet his last 21,000, Negreanu called, and the cards were tabled.

Bach: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

With Bach at risk, the turn and river were the {6-Clubs} and {2-Diamonds}, and Bach fell in 16th place for a $6,072 payday.

From the small blind, Anthony Zinno moved all in for 76,500 and Daniel Negreanu called in the big blind.

The dealer spread a {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop and Zinno stated, "I don't feel good about it."

The turn of the {8-Hearts} now gave Negreanu outs to hearts, or a ten or nine.

Unfortunately for Zinno, the river landed the {2-Hearts}, and Zinno was eliminated in 13th place for a $6,072 payday.

Malis' runout came {6-Hearts} and {5-Spades} to make sixes and fives, while Matusow's runout was {3-Spades} and {A-Spades} for just a pair of kings. Malis doubled, while Matusow was left with just 14,500.

Matusow got it in the next hand with split tens, but Jean Montury made kings up on seventh and Matusow couldn't catch up.

Then Seiken raised again to 16,500 from under the gun and Negreanu three-bet to 60,000 from the small blind.

Seiken called, and the dealer spread a {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop as Negreanu continued for 30,000. Seiken shoved for 110,000, and Negreanu snapped him off.

From under the gun, Iori Yogo bet his last 10,000 and Per Hildebrand called 12,000 on the button. NIcholas Derke called from the small blind and Philip Long checked in the big blind.

The flop landed {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Derke bet 12,000. Long folded, but Hildebrand called as the {7-Hearts} landed on the turn and both players checked.

The river fell the {A-Hearts} and, after a Derke check, Hildebrand bet 24,000 and Derke called.

Hildebrand tabled his {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the nut straight, and Derke mucked.

Yogo showed his {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and headed to the rail in eighth place for a $13,979 payday.
