Triton’s Top Dogs

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Fedor Holz is the Triton Super High Roller Series most successful player

With the prestigious Triton Super High Roller Series attracting an eclectic mixture of affluent recreational players and some of the international poker circuit’s top pros, a great deal of cold, hard cash has changed hands over the Series’ short history.

With the smallest side event buy-in coming in at HKD 250,000 (~$31,850), the Main Events boasting an HKD 1-million entry (~$127,385) and the tournament formats offering either single or unlimited re-entries, the Triton Super High Roller prize pools are just that – super high.

Since its inception in 2015, the Triton Super High Roller Series has awarded a massive $48.6 million in prize money over 12 high-stakes tournaments (as of May 16, 2018).

The Triton Series has plenty of regular players, all of whom are fans of the format, the excellent event structures, and the luxurious tournament locations. Several of these players also return because they have enjoyed a great deal of success at the tables, so let's see who are the Triton Super High Roller top dogs:

Germany's Fedor Holz tops the Triton Super High Roller Series in terms of money won, having made an impressive $5,617,727 at the Series' tournament tables. Holz closest rival, in terms of money won, is poker stalwart John Juanda, who has $4,050,233 in tournament winnings, over three cashes, just like Holz.

When it comes to the number of cashes is Wai Kin Yong who is ahead of Holz but is tied with Spain's Sergio Aido, with both having four on their resume.

Wai Kin Yong
Wai Kin Yong is tied for the number of Triton titles with Holz, and shares the title for most cashes with Spain's Sergio Aido

There are with eleven players tied on three cashes with Holz, Juanda, the USA's David Peters, Germany's Manig Loeser, Triton founder Richard Yong, Daniel "jungleman12" Cates, the USA's Steve O'Dwyer, Macau's Paul Phua, Hong Kong's Winfred Yu, Malaysia's Chan Wai Leong and the USA's Isaac Haxton all on the level.

Of these, it is Juanda who has won the most in cash, with the US pro also holding the title for the 2017 Triton Super High Roller Macau Main Event - the largest and richest event of the series to date.

Loeser Busts Koon

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Manig Loeser opened the action with a raise to 15,000 on the button and Jason Koon got his remaining 99,000 in from the big blind. Loeser glanced over at the stack of his opponent and called after brief consideration.

Jason Koon: {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Manig Loeser: {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}

The {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} flop took away some outs from Koon, and the {10-Clubs} turn and {10-Spades} river run out failed to improve the American poker pro to see the defending champion thrive further up the leader board.

Re-Entry for Fast; Leong Back on Track

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Dietrich Fast sent over his stack to Mikita Badziakouski and re-entered only to be greeted back on the very same seat upon re-entry, triggering a few smiles all over the table.

One table over, Patrik Antonius made it 15,000 to go and Julian Thomas called in the small blind. Out of the big blind, start-of-the-day chip leader Chan Wai Leong three-bet to 60,000 and Antonius called, Thomas folded. The flop fell {K-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and a quick continuation bet for55,000 did the trick for Leong, as Antonius sent his cards into the muck.

Tang Takes Some Off Nitsche

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Xuan Tan has re-entered and Devan Tang has boosted his stack slightly. On the river of a board {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, Dominik Nitsche bet 10,000 and called the raise to 35,000 by table neighbor Tang, then mucked when he was being shown the {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} by Tang.

So far, there have been 45 entries to the event and the registration is open for another two and a half levels.

Wei Doubles Through Koon

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Picking up the action on the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, Jason Koon and Lim Chin Wei both invested 25,000 to see the {7-Spades} on the turn. Wei got the remaining stack of 136,000 in and Koon looked him up with the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for top pair and the nut flush draw. Wei was ahead with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and the {6-Diamonds} on the river secured his double up.

Tan Busts to Torbergsen

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Devan Tang was waiting to get moved tables in order to balance the emaining field after the additions of Steve O'Dwyer on his second bullet and Winfred Yu on the first entry. However, a big pot was still to be wrapped up on his table and the completed board showed {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

Xuan Tan moved all in for 95,000 into a pot of 150,000 and Marius Torbergsen used one time bank extension before flicking in a call. Tan briefly showed his cards but could not beat the {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} of Torbergsen to become the next casualty.

Christner Takes the Lead

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Paul Phua
Paul Phua

"It's not a good seat, just wait until someone else registers and sits down there," Bryn Kenney joked after Paul Phua walked past him and said he had been eliminated with kings versus aces. The chips went to Christian Christner, who still had his {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} tabled with the board showing {J-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

It was indeed the second time that Phua had been eliminated from this very seat after having re-entered not long ago.

Yong Takes from Loeser

Nível 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

In a battle of former Triton Super High Roller Series Main Event champions, Manig Loeser bet the {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop for 7,000 out of the blinds and Wai Kin Yong called. Loeser also bet the {10-Hearts} for 21,000 to pick up a call by Yong before the defending champion checked the {10-Spades} on the river. Yong bet 42,000 and that won the pot without showdown.
