Ramos Bluffs Luo

Nível 6 : 300/600, 100 ante
Felipe Ramos
Felipe Ramos

We caught the action on the turn with a big pot brewing between PokerStars Team Pro Felipe Ramos and China’s Xixiang Luo.

There is already over 10,000 in chips in the middle with the community cards reading {k-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds} {a-Clubs} and Luo had just led out for 8,000.

Ramos ran down the shot clock to 4-seconds before announcing he was all-in, shipping for another 28,800 more. Luo rocked back in his chair like he had just been slapped and it was his turn to run down the clock before eventually folding with just a few seconds to spare.

Ramos obligingly slapped down {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a stone cold bluff as the pot was shipped his way leaving an unimpressed Luo to mutter to himself under his breath as he counted out his much reduced stack.

One for the Fan(s)

Nível 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

Rory Young has lost some chips and was among three players to see a flop of {J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The action checked to Neel Murphy in the hijack and he bet 2,500, which only Tao Fan on the button called. Both the {10-Hearts} turn and the {2-Clubs} river then went check, check, and Murphy rolled over the {A-Spades}{5-Spades} for ace-high. Fan had that beat with {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and claimed the pot.

One respectively two tables over, Kazuhiko Yotsushika and Matas Cimbolas are back in action on their second bullet. Thus far, 12 players opted to buy back in after the first attempt didn't go as planned.

O’Dwyer Wins Yummy Pot

Nível 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

Steve O’Dwyer has started slowly here in the HK$103,000 High Roller but won a hand from Ryan Yum at the start of the new level to keep his tournament ticking over.

Pre-flop it was Xuming Qi who was the initial raiser, opening to 1,200 from under-the-gun, with O’Dwyer making the call from middle position before Yum re-popped from the button with a raise to 3,300.

Qi folded quickly but O’Dwyer decided he wanted to play and tossed in the call to take play heads-up to the {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flop, which the US player checked over to Yum, who checked it back.

The {5-Clubs} turn also saw no action and the {5-Diamonds} landed on the river. This saw O’Dwyer lead for 16,000 and Yum ran the shot clock down and burned the first of his time bank chips before folding, leaving O’Dywer to scoop the pot.

Shashank Wins an Odd Hand

Nível 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Nan Hong has been eliminated for the second time while Matas Cimbolas, Huidong Gu and Pierre Calamusa are gone with their first bullet. Rathi Shashank may have experienced the same fate, but just managed to spin his stack back up in a hand against Shinobu Tanaka.

On the flop of {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, Tanaka checked in the big blind and was the only caller of a bet worth 2,000 by Shashank on the button. Tanaka then led the {4-Clubs} turn for 3,500 and was called before firing the {3-Diamonds} river for 11,500. Shashank moved all in for just 1,500 more and Tanaka instantly mucked his cards.

This surprised Shashank, who said "really? for 1,500 more?" and started stacking the chips, while Adrian Attenborough arrived at the same time with a monster stack and claimed seat one.

Li Flushes Aido

Nível 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Spain’s Sergio Aido opened the action with a raise to 1,300 from middle position and picked up four callers with Sylvain Loosli and Zdravko Duvnjak calling from the cutoff and button respectively and Xiaoling Li and Davidi Kitai coming along from the blinds.

The action went five-way to the rather wet {9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop, which is checked all the way around to Duvnjak on the button, who decided to take a stab for 2,500.

Li called from the small blind, Kitai and Loosli folded before Aido called to take the action three-way to the {3-Spades} turn. This slowed the action right down with all three players checking and the {4-Diamonds} hit the river.

Li thought it over for 20-second before deciding to lead for 6,000, Aido called quickly and Duvnjak folded. Li turned over {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for the turned flush and Aido mucked immediately.

Various Chip Counts and Small Pots

Nível 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Troy Quenneville raised to 1,200 and former big stack Hongjun Zhao three-bet to 3,600 on the button. Matthew Moss four-bet to 9,100 and that won the pot.

Kahle Burns opted for a raise to 1,200 from under the gun and Dejan Boskovic Jr, the player next to him, Kiryl Radzivonau, Ryan Yu in the small blind and Guillaume Diaz in the big blind all called. On the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, Boskovic Jr bet 2,100 and just Yu called before the {A-Hearts} turn saw Yu lead for 4,500. Boskovic Jr folded and the pot was shipped to the Canadian.

Daniel Tang raised to 1,150 and big stack Nick Petrangelo called on the button, short stack Pierre Calamusa came along from the big blind. The trio checked a flop of {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts} and the {8-Hearts} turn was checked to Petrangelo. The dealer was about to burn and turn when Petrangelo said "I didn't check, I asked if they had both checked," then used the power of his stack to bet 4,500. Calamusa quickly folded and Tang came to the same conclusion.

Three Regs Meet in Asia

Nível 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

While many participants of this High Roller tournament are from nearby or traveled from Australia, the names Georgios Zisimopoulos, Matas Cimbolas and David Peters are rather well known on the European and North American circuit. All three happen to share the same table and took part in a small hand that saw Peters build his stack slightly.

Peters made it 1,300 to go and Cimbolas called on the button, Zisimopoulos defended the big blind. On the {Q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, Zisimopoulos bet 2,000 and both opponents called before the {3-Clubs} turn and {8-Hearts} river were checked through. Peters flashed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and that claimed the pot.

Wang Rivers Furious Wu

Nível 5 : 250/500, 75 ante
Yang Wang
Yang Wang

A huge hand has just played out between Yang Wang and Sai Wu that left the latter fuming, and destitute.

We caught the action on the {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop with 5,000 already in the pot just as Wu checked the action over to Wang on the button. Wang already had a beefy stack and appeared eager to add to it, firing out a bet of 4,400.

Wu quickly check-raised to 10,000 to send Wang into tank mode, but with chips to spare he decided to pay to see the turn, which came down {4-Diamonds}.

First to act in the big blind, Wu quickly announced she was all-in and shipped her 31,825 stack into the middle of the table to send Wang deep into the tank, where he remained for the full 30-seconds, burning the first of his three time bank chips. The shot clock ticked down to 5-seconds before Wang made his decision and slid in the call.

Wu eagerly slapped {q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} face up onto the felt, which was leading Wang’s {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and while she seemed primed for a double Lady Luck chose not to smile upon her and the {a-Spades} landed on the river.

Wu was absolutely furious, and while we don’t speak Mandarin it appeared that she was giving Wang a piece of her mind. It’s a wonder she had any left to spare as she spent at least five minutes chewing strips off her unfortunate opponent, who takes the lecture in his stride.

That’s pretty easy to do when you have heaps of chips though. Eventually, Wu finished saying her piece and stalked off haughtily to the rail, leaving Wang to breathe a big sigh of relief and he climbed to 195,000.

Haxton Back in

Nível 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Daniel Dvoress was the initial raiser and Paul-Francois Tedeschi defended his big blind, then check-called a bet on the {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop. Tedeschi took the lead by betting the {Q-Spades} turn and was called before making it 3,400 to go on the {7-Spades} river. Dvoress called and mucked when he was shown {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} by Tedeschi.

Fellow Frenchman Ivan Deyra arrived just as the showdown took place and claimed the vacated seat that formerly belonged to Isaac Haxton, and the latter is among nine players to have fired the optional second bullet thus far.
