Congratulations to Brandon Adams, Winner of Poker Masters Event #2: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em ($400,000)

Poker Masters Event #2 Champion Brandon Adams
Poker Masters Event #2 Champion Brandon Adams

The tournament began with an impressive group of players at the PokerGO Studio just outside of the Aria Resort and Casino and when the dust had settled it was Brandon Adams taking down Event #2: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em at the Poker Masters.

The day started off full of action, never really slowing down and the cause of the action was Adams, who rarely took his foot off of the pedal and consistently was putting all of his opponents to the test. He topped a field of 50 players and came into Day 2 fourth on the 2018 Purple Jacket leaderboard race. Taking down the six-man final tabled earned him 300 points, moving him up to first place on the board, as well as a prodigious $400,000 first place prize.

The final table chipleader to start Day 2 was Jared Jaffee, who found himself in a spot that would almost always be a win with his flopped set against Adams and his pair of aces. The board went runner-runner full house for Adams, leaving Jaffee short stacked and giving Adams a commanding chip lead that he used to lean on his opponents.

The Day 2 Chipleader and Adams would end up dueling it out in a heads-up match, with Adams having a seemingly overwhelming chip lead. The battle would end shortly after starting, just two hands into play and Adams would emerge as the victor. Jaffee would pocket a respectable $262,000 for his efforts and earn 210 towards the Purple Jacket.

Final Table Action
It was not very long into the day when Adams started making moves and pushing his stack around, not afraid to bluff when needing to do so. Daniel Negreanu caught on to that fact rather quickly, slow playing a pair of tens preflop to Adams raise. The board was showing all undercards on the turn when Negreanu moved all in and was quickly called by Adams who was holding a pair of ladies. Negreanu could not manage to hit a ten as he was the first to exit the tournament in sixth place.

Jason Koon found himself in two races with Bill Klein, in which he lost both and was left with just crumbs. Koon found a pot shortly after and almost made a comeback, but fell short of doing so when Jaffee took him out of the tournament with his pair of tens. During the next set of blinds, Klein had whittled down to the short stack and moved all in with king-jack over a raise from Jake Schindler, who quickly made the call with his ace-eight. Schindler would take down the pot, eliminating Klein from the tournament with a pair of eights.

A couple levels of three-handed action took place before Schindler would be the next casualty to head to the payout desk. Adams was constantly moving all in and leaning on both Schindler and Jaffee during three-handed action. Schindler decided that he has had enough, taking a stand with queen-ten and Adams would turn over ace-five. Schindler failed to connect with the board as Adams took down the pot with a pair of fives, eliminating Schindler from the tournament.

The heads-up play last just two hands before short stack Jaffee moved all in from the button, being snap-called by Adams. Jaffee's king high was behind Adams who was holding ace high. The turn gave Jaffee a lot of outs to stay alive and double up but he failed to do so as Adams took down the pot with his ace high, eliminating Jaffee in second place.

Adams is no rookie to the Poker Masters, winning Event #4 $ 50,000 No Limit Hold'em last year and placing fourth just yesterday in Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em. Today's victory has moved Adams to the top of the 2018 Purple Jacket Rankings and he will surely be looking to add to his lead.

This concludes the PokerNews coverage of Event #2: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em here at the Poker Masters. Coverage of Event #3: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha is currently in progress, and make sure to stay tuned to PokerNews.com for all the 2018 Poker Masters updates.

Jared Jaffee Eliminated in 2nd Place ($262,000); Brandon Adams Wins Event #2

Nível 22 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Jared Jaffee
Jared Jaffee

Jared Jaffee started heads-up play as the short stack, on just the second hand he found himself all in and with a caller in Brandon Adams. The players turned over their hands and Jaffee would be at risk of elimination.

Brandon Adams: {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Jared Jaffee: {k-Clubs}{5-Spades}

The dealer fanned out a flop of {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, not improving Jaffee's hand as he would need to connect to stay alive. A {7-Spades} fell on the turn, giving Jaffee more outs to double up.

The {2-Diamonds} hit the felt on the river, missing Jaffee's hand completely and giving Adams the pot, eliminating Jaffee from the tournament and taking down the tournament.

Brandon Adams moved all in from the small blind, Jake Schindler called his remaining 1.075M and the players turned over their hands, with Schindler at risk of elimination.

Brandon Adams: {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Jake Schindler: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The flop came down {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Adams was still ahead with his ace high. The turn gave Schindler a lot of added outs as the {9-Spades} landed on the felt.

When the {6-Diamonds} came down on the river, Schindler failed to connect and Adams took down the pot, eliminating Schindler from the tournament.

Jake Schindler opened to 110,000 from the cutoff and Bill Klein moved all in from the small blind for 520,000. Schindler made the call, players turned over their hands and Klein would be at risk.

Jake Schindler: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Bill Klein: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}

The flop came down {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Schindler's eights were ahead. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn was of no help to Klein as he would need a non-diamond out to come out. A {3-Spades} came down on the river and Schindler's eights were good to take down the pot, eliminating Klein from the tournament.

Nível 19 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Jason Koon was left short-stacked after a couple of lost races to Bill Klein. He found a pot right after with big slick that moved him back up to 115,000.

The very next hand Jared Jaffee moved all in from the small blind and Koon called his remaining stack from the big blind without even looking at his cards, players turned over their hands.

Jared Jaffee: {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Jason Koon: {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

The flop came down {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Koon would need to suck out to stay alive. A {q-Hearts} on the turn did not help as Jaffee's tens were still ahead. The {k-Clubs} on the river changed nothing as Jaffee took down the pot, eliminating Koon from the tournament.

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Brandon Adams opened to 75,000 from the cutoff, Daniel Negreanu called from the button and the flop came down {7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Action checked to Negreanu who bet 60,000 and was quickly check-raised to 205,000 by Adams.

Negreanu made the call and a {3-Hearts} fell on the turn. Adams bet 405,000, Negreanu moved all in and Adams made the call, putting his opponent at risk. Negreanu turned over {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for an overpair of tens and Adams showed {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} for a better pair.

The dealer flipped over a {j-Clubs} on the river and that would seal the deal for Adams, who eliminated Negreanu and overtook the chip lead in the process of doing so.
