Day 2 Recap

A total of ten players jumped into the €25,000 High Roller at the start of the day including Charlie Carrel, Ivan Leow, Bryn Kenney and Juan Pardo, although the Spaniard was the first elimination of the day after running into the aces of Ivo Bartoletti.

High Roller regular Mikita Badziakouski, Patrik Antonius and Vasily Klyukhin - who started the day second in chips - were also early bustouts as the field shrunk.

Sergio Aido, Sean Winter, Michael Addamo, and Marton Czuczor were all prominent at the top of the counts as the tournament headed on break with 30 players remaining and only 20 guaranteed to cash.

Only eight were to be eliminated over the next two level, including Sylvain Loosli, who ran eights into Erik Seidel's kings and Bryn Kenney, who tussled with Mike Watson and Luc Greenwood.

A new name emerged as chip leader at the three table redraw with Lithuanian Laurynas Levinskas loving life in the lead just four eliminations from the money. Viacheslav Goryachev and Dietrich Fast would bust before dinner just two off the money.

The bubble burst shortly after resumption. Keiji Takahashi was eliminated before Richard Yong's ace-queen fell foul of Levinskas's pocket queens, and the remaining 20 players were all guaranteed €43,870.

In the mean time, Levinskas had moved up to over a million in chips, before Marton Czuczor joined him following the elimination of Mohsin Charania.

The duo were joined in the seven-figure chip camp by Aido after he sent David Dayan to the rail.

Final Table

These three started the final table as the big stacks, but final table action was slow until the very final hand of the day, where Daniel Dvoress doubled into second in chips. He will be looking for revenge on Aido after a fourth-place finish in the €100,000 Super High Roller.

The two Hungarians in Czuczor and Laszlo Bujtas will no doubt be rooting for one another to do their country proud, with Benjamin Pollak and Joao Vieira further back.

Daniel Dvoress will be looking to follow in his countryman Timothy Adam's footsteps in taking down a High Roller here in Monte Carlo, whilst Koray Aldemir won't need any encouragement to add another €800,000 to his over $11m in lifetime cashes.

Dead last of 30 players coming into Day 4 of the EPT Monte Carlo €5,300 Main Event to chip leading within three levels — it’s been a very lucky day for amateur poker player Wei Huang.

The 34-year-old amateur poker player from Shanghai, China is enjoying his very first trip to Europe, and picked a great time to run good.

While he stays busy with his job as a finance controller for PepsiCo, Huang loves poker and plays for fun when he can. Sitting with the big-time pros late in the Main Event in Monaco, Huang is a little starstruck, but not letting it interfere with his game. In the late levels of the day, he's been seated with the likes of Ryan Riess, Sam Greenwood and Manig Loeser at the featured live-streamed table.

“It’s amazing because when I look at them, they’re like my idols. I’m a big fan of most of these players.”
