Carrel Leads the Final Six Players in the €10,300 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller

Nível 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Charlie Carrel

It was an exhausting Day 2 for the remaining six players in the €10,300 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller as they battled it out for nearly 13 hours. Many of the top players from all around the world have gathered for the 2019 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT to play in some of the largest buy-in events in the world.

Heading into the final day of this event, Charlie Carrel will hold a commanding chip lead over his five other tablemates. Carrel had a dominating day at the felt that was accelerated even more at the final table. Entering the final table as the chip leader, Carrel continued his dominance by eliminating two more players in a short process.

The English poker pro will carry 1,499,000 chips into Day 3 in search of the first-place prize of €198,610. Carrel has fond memories of playing at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort and Casino with a total of seven cashes coming in this same building, including the largest of his career. In 2015, Carrel topped the €25,500 High Roller for a whopping €1,114,000 payday.

He will be in tough competition though as the other five players at the table have been around the high roller circuit for quite some time. In second place, Seth Davies (791,000) also held the chip lead for periods of time on Day 2. Georgios Kitsios (433,000) may be the biggest unknown player of the remaining six but his rollercoaster day ended on an upswing as he rounds out the top three.

Coming into the day, Erik Seidel held the chip lead pretty much from the start of the tournament. He didn't relinquish that lead until halfway through the day and he found himself at risk on multiple occasions but managed to survive thus far.

A total of 13 new entries passed through the registration desk before the start of play to bring the total number of entries to 70. It didn't take long for players to start hitting the rail in the opening few minutes. Surprisingly enough, Kristen Bicknell who returned with one big blind, wasn't the first player eliminated today. Some other early bust-outs included Ivan Deyra, Michael Addamo, Michael Soyza, Aviv Meiri, and Jack Salter.

It took until the last level of the night to finally break through into the money when Philipp Gruissem was eliminated on the bubble. There were multiple double ups that took place during the hand-for-hand process, including Gruissem himself, but he was unable to survive one last time. He ran into the steamrolling Carrel who out-flopped him and the final nine players were guaranteed some cash.

Pablo Melogno (9th Place - €19,690) had been battling with Carrel in some large pots throughout the bubble process but it finally came to a halt when Carrel turned the nut flush and Melogno rivered trips. Just a couple of hands later, Thomas Muehloecker (8th Place - €25,800) ran his pocket fives into the pocket aces of Kitsios and he also hit the rail.

It seemed like just a matter of minutes when Carrel sent another one to the payout desk. Ole Schemion (7th Place - €33,270) moved in with ace-jack and Carrel called with pocket sixes. A six on the flop spelled the end to Schemion's run and he was the final elimination of the night. The final six players held on throughout the last level to bag up their chips and return for the final day.

The action will get back underway at 12:30 p.m. and play until a winner is crowned. The levels will continue to be 60 minutes in length and the blinds will resume at 6,000/12,000 with a 12,000 big blind ante. Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Ole Schemion shipped all in for exactly 200,000 in the hijack and Charlie Carrel gave it some brief thought before making the call. It was a coin flip and Schemion's tournament life was on the line.

Charlie Carrel: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Ole Schemion: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

As the day would have it with Carrel running over the field, the flop came {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} to leave Schemion drawing nearly dead. The {k-Spades} on the turn sealed the deal and Schemion was eliminated in seventh place.

The action folded to Georgios Kitsios in the cutoff who raised it up to 20,000. Thomas Muehloecker shipped all in for 106,000 on the button and Kitsios snapped him off when it was his turn.

Georgios Kitsios: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Thomas Muehloecker: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Muehloecker was in dire straits looking to spike a two outer. It would not come on the {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} run-out and Muehloecker was eliminated in eighth place.

Pablo Melogno

It is unsure when all of the chips got in the middle, but Charlie Carrel and Pablo Melogno played another massive pot. The completed board read {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{j-Spades} and Melogno began the hand with just under 300,000 chips.

It would be Carrel who would get the last laugh in their battle as he turned over {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for the nut flush. Melogno showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for trip jacks but it wasn't enough as he headed to the payout desk in ninth place.

Double KO for Loosli

Nível 15 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Sylvain Loosli
Sylvain Loosli

Albert Daher was on the shortest stack in the tournament and he pushed all in for 38,000 in the cutoff. Ben Heath called from the button and Sylvain Loosli re-shoved over the top from the small blind. Heath quickly called off his stack of 174,000 and the cards were on their backs.

Sylvain Loosli: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Ben Heath: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Albert Daher: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The flop came {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} to give Loosli the best hand with a pair of aces and his king kicker. The {3-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Spades} on the river changed nothing as both Heath and Daher were eliminated.

Roberts Ousted, Nitsche Doubles

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Lauren Roberts
Lauren Roberts

Hassan Nashar raised to 13,000 from middle position and Lauren Roberts pushed all in for 44,000 in the small blind. Nashar made a quick call and they were off to the races.

Nashar showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} against Roberts' {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and the flop of {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} heavily favored Nashar. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn and the {2-Spades} on the river were no help to Roberts as she headed to the rail.

Just a couple of hands later, Nashar got all of his chips in the middle again with pocket tens. Unfortunately for him, this time he was up against the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} of Dominik Nitsche. The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Nitsche doubled up his stack of 79,000.

Boivin Can't Bluff His Way Out of Trouble

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Thomas Boivin
Thomas Boivin

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, Thomas Boivin and Timothy Adams were heads-up in the blinds. Boivin led out for 22,000 from the small blind and Timothy Adams called from the big blind.

The river was the {j-Hearts} and Boivin took his time before moving all in for a little over 45,000. Adams instantly dropped in a call which was bad news for Boivin. He turned over {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a bluff while Adams held {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a flush.

With that, another table was broken and the tournament is down to just four tables.

Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Davidi Kitai opened to 4,500 in early position and Charlie Carrel three-bet to 14,000 in the hijack. The action was folded back to Kitai who thought for a moment before shoving all in for just over 50,000. Carrel nearly beat him into the pot and the cards were on their backs.

Charlie Carrel: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Davidi Kitai: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The flop came {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Carrel remained out front in the coin flip. The {3-Spades} on the turn gave Carrel a flush draw which took away a couple of Kitai's outs and the {4-Diamonds} on the river secured the win for Carrel.

Ace-High is Good for Petrangelo

Nível 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

Nick Petrangelo opened to 3,200 from early position and was called by Orpen Kisacikoglu on the button and Alexander Uskov in the small blind. The flop came {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Uskov checked to Petrangelo who continued for 6,500. Kisacikoglu called and Uskov got out of the way.

The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and Petrangelo wagered half of his stack, a bet of 13,000. Kisacikoglu called again and the {2-Spades} paired the board on the river. Petrangelo checked this time and Kisacikoglu reluctantly checked it back. Petrangelo flipped over {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and that was enough to win the pot.
