Negreanu Starts Trouble

Nível 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Daniel Negreanu opened for 10,000 and Ping San Chan made the call. Wei Seng Phua then raised to 30,000 and from the button Patrik Antonius bumped it up some more, making it 83,000.

Everyone got out of the way apart from Phua who moved all in for a total of 338,500 and the decision was now Antonius’s to make. He got the count, asked how much more it was and sat stock still for a couple of minutes.

John Juanda strolled by the table and Negreanu called out to him, “I started all this trouble.”

Antonius made the call and saw Phua turn over {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. “Chop.” said Phua when he saw the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} of Antonius.

So it was as the cards ran out {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Spades} and each player received a tiny boost to their stack.

Mohsin Charania

Martin Finger opened to 10,000 preflop and was called by Talal Shakerchi on the button and Mohsin Charania in the big blind. The three saw a {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop which was checked to Finger who bet 15,500. Shakerchi and Charania both made the call.

All three players checked the {J-Hearts} turn before Charania led out for 44,000 on the {9-Spades} river. Finger folded but Shakerchi quickly called.

Charania: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Shakerchi: {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Another pot for the Englishman who moved up to 270,000.

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

A tough beat for Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, he raised and then called off with {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} against the big blind {K-}{4-},. The latter had thought he was UTG and initially tried to fold but got his cards back before eventually spiking his hand against the Frenchman.

O'Dwyer Hits the Tank Before Calling It Off

Nível 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

After Ole Schemion limped from the small blind and then called a raise from Steve O'Dwyer in the big, the flop came down {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Schemion led out for 25,000. O'Dwyer made the call and it was off to the {4-Spades} turn.

Schemion kept the pressure on with another bet, this time 48,000, and the {4-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Schemion reached for his stack of pink T25,000 chips and slowly slid them forward.

O'Dwyer, who had 134,000 remaining, was put to the test and he hit the tank to contemplate the decision. To call would cost him all his chips, and possibly another €100,000 if he decided to reenter. More than three minutes ticked by before he dropped in a call, and he was left shaking his head when Schemion rolled over the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a full house. O'Dwyer, who made the call with the {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} for two pair with an ace kicker, collected his things and exited the feature table area.

Smith Straight Gets Paid

Nível 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Ping San Chan opened for 9,500 from early position and got three-bet to 27,000 by Dan Smith from the cutoff. The blinds folded and Chan asked to see how much Smith had behind. Smith told him it was about 270k and Chan made the call.

They saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. Chan checked, Smith checked behind.

The turn card {4-Spades} saw Chan go for a bet of 50,000. Smith gave it a ponder and flicked out the two chips to call.

The river card {9-Spades} saw Chan change tack and check. Smith went for a bet of 78,000 which seemed to puzzle his opponent.

Chan looked back at his cards and clacked some chips together in his hands. Finally he paid the price to see Smith’s cards, {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for the rivered straight was good enough and Chan mucked his cards with a nod.

Short Stacks Battle

Nível 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With 55,500 in the pot and a board reading {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, Sorel Mizzi bet 28,000 from the hijack and Senh Ung called from the button. When the {7-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Mizzi bet 61,000, which was about half his remaining stack.

Ung, who had about the same amount of chips, began to contemplate the bet before asking the dealer to spread the pot. Eventually he dropped in a call, and he immediately regretted it when Mizzi rolled over the {k-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for a king-high flush.
