From the hijack seat, Dan Shak raised to 16,000. In the small blind, Gus Hansen reraised to 44,000. Shak called and the flop came down . After Hansen bet 55,000, Shak raised to 250,000 to put Hansen to the test for all of his chips. Hansen folded and Shak won the pot.
Justin Bonomo raised to 13,000 in the cutoff and Dan Shak three-bet to 40,000 on the button. Bryn Kenney started to take an interest from the small blind, but decided to fold after Bonomo gave him an update on his stack size. Bonomo four-bet to 87,000 and Shak returned to his massage.
We follow the voice of the Great Dane and find ourselves in the midst of an all-in showdown between Isaac Haxton and Samuel Chartier. The money had all gone in pre flop.
Chartier
Haxton
Chartier has Haxton covered and is therefore the player at risk of elimination. Haxton had already invested €200,000 into this tournament thus far.
Flop:
"That's a pretty good flop," said Haxton.
Turn:
"That's a good card," said Hansen.
"Well it's not a queen," said Haxton.
River:
Hansen looks away from the table and someone nearby shouts, "Boom."
"That will do…you have me covered," said Haxton before leaving the table.
"At least you are free…I always feel free when I bust a big tournament," said Tony G.
We doubt Haxton actually does feel free, at least not yet.
The table and seat draw for Day 2 has been completed and the players are just about to get started. There were two re-entries, Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier and Gus Hansen. Here's how the field looks.
Good morning and welcome to the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller. We overheard Will Molson telling Scott Seiver that the poker has been fun and this tells the story of this fabulous event. The stakes are high enough and the talent certainly amazing enough, to bring out the very best in the very best.
Yesterday, 38 players took a hammer, smashed open their piggy bank and paid the €100,000 entry fee here in the Ferrari-laden home of Monaco. To bolster the cash prizes even further, players were allowed to reload all day yesterday and can still buy-in for Day 2, which starts at 13:00 (CET). The likes of Isaac Haxton, Justin Bonomo, Dietrich Albrecht and Bill Perkins all purchased second bullets worth €100,000 each, but the most interesting reload came from Leon Tsoukernik.
The high roller from the Czech Republic spent his dinner break playing craps where he won €70,000. After being eliminated from the Super High Roller he promised to be back should he spin up the €70,000 into €100,000. A few shakes of a lamb's tail and he was back with his €100,000 and became our fifth reload.
The chip leader is Talal Shakerchi on 1.165 million. He overtook Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel, in the final few hands, when he eliminated another Team Pro in Viktor Blom. Some of the players who did not make it through yesterday, but have a chance to re-enter today, include Gus Hansen, Sam Trickett, Jason Mercier, Govert Metaal, Mike "Timex" McDonald, Daniel Cates, Artem Litvinov and the man himself, Leon Tsoukernik.
The action starts at 13:00 (CET), so make sure you are reading Pokernews when the action begins.
