Another level in the books, another break for the players. Back in 15 minutes.
We caught the action on the turn in a heads-up pot between Andrew Bassat and David Vamplew on a board reading just as Vamplew led out for 3,000 into roughly 6,000.
Bassat, sitting in the big blind, made the call and the dealer peeled off the river, bringing a 4,500 bet from Bassat and a quick call from Vamplew.
Bassat turned over for a missed straight draw meaning Vamplew’s wins the pot and he climbed to 63,500 while Bassat fell to 43,500.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko hasn’t been able to get anything going here today, but a disciplined fold just saw him potentially save his tournament life.
After a tablemate opened to 2,500 for five times the big blind, Timoshenko had a dilemma to deal with from the small blind.
“I have the best hand I’ve had in hours” Timoshenko admitted to the opener.
“So do I” came the reply.
“I think I just have to lose the tournament no matter what… the way the day has gone” Timoshenko continued.
The two quipped back and forth but with the big blind still to act they were somewhat limited in what they could reveal. Ultimately Timoshenko found a fold and it proved to be a good one when the big blind folded too.
The initial raiser tabled and let Timoshenko breathe a sigh of relief.
“Thank you,” Timoshenko said, “you’re a lovely gentleman.”
“Why don’t you two get a room?” joked a tablemate.
“Maybe we will” Timoshenko retorted with a laugh.

Jack Salter has been busy as of late and his stack is much increased from the last time we walked passed his table. Salter recently padded it out still further at the expense of Erik Seidel.
We caught the action in a heads-up pot between Jack Salter and Erik Seidel on a flop of with Salter sitting in the big blind and Seidel on the button.
Both players checked the flop and before Salter opened for 1,450, which looked to be a two-thirds pot-sized bet. Seidel doesn’t take long to fold and Salter took down the hand, climbing to 67,000 while Seidel dropped to around 69,000.

Nick Mooney is stacking chips after emptying the clip against tablemate Sam Higgs.
Mooney raised to 1,100 preflop and picked up three callers – Jason Gray on the button, Sam Higgs in the small blind and Ben Richardson in the big blind.
The four players went to a monochrome flop of . The action was checked to Mooney and he continued for 1,700. Higgs was the only caller and the two remaining watched as the arrived on the turn.
Higgs checked again and Mooney barrelled for 3,000. The bet was snap-called by Higgs and the rolled off on the river. After a final check from Higgs, Mooney moved the last of it in for 11,450.
Despite asking for a count, Higgs couldn’t make the call and Mooney pushed his stack back up towards what he began proceedings with.

We caught the action on the river in a heads-up pot between Anton Astapau and an opponent with over 20,000 already in the middle of the table.
With the board reading Astapau fired out a bet of 15,000 leaving around 8,000 behind. Astapau’s opponent in the hand sitting under the gun was sitting on around 40,000 so this represented a significant portion of his stack and he eventually decided to let it go. Astapau raked in the pot and climbed to 53,000.

Sam Trickett has been eliminated from the tournament. His seat was vacant but fortunately for us, his former neighbor Yevgeniy Timoshenko remembered what had happened.
According to Timoshenko, Trickett was down to 8,500 when action folded around to him on the button. He moved all in and the small blind called. The big blind folded and Trickett showed while the small blind had . The flop came with two clubs and the turn and river were blanks to send Trickett home.

Nothing is going right for Sam Higgs this level, the Australian just lost another pot, this time to countryman Ben Richardson.
The two of them got the last of it in preflop to see that Richardson was flipping for his tournament life.
Richardson:
Higgs:
When the flop fell they were essentially still flipping as Higgs picked up an open ended straight draw to go with his overcards. The turn and river saw Richardson’s fives hold, however, as Higgs lost more chips after the recent hand against Erik Seidel.
