Day 1 Flight 3 of Event #1 $1,150 No-Limit Hold'em drew a total of 371 players to the Crown Entertainment Complex Friday.

The biggest of the three flights so far, Flight 3 brought the total entries up to 703, and put the event close to meeting its $1 million prize pool guarantee with one flight still to play Saturday afternoon.

Recently retired Australian Rules Football legend and Australian Of The Year recipient Adam Goodes joined in the action Friday, but could not make it through the flight. Australian Poker Hall of Fame members Gary Benson and Van Marcus also bought in, but failed to survive.

2015 Aussie Millions Main Event Champion Manny Stavropoulos took to the felt for this third flight as well, but joined the others on the rail before the flight was over.

Once twelve 40-minute levels were through it appeared 58 players remained with Michael Seymour leading. The Aussie has a number of tournament cashes on his resume from the Sydney area, including a win in the 2015 ANZPT Sydney $1,000 No Limit Holdem - Six Max event this past March.

This group and the 52 through from the first two flights will fight for a seat at the nine-handed final beginning at 12:15 p.m. local time Sunday, with survivors from Saturday's final starting flight also joining them.

As a repechage event, players eliminated from previous flights may also re-enter in the remaining flight.

The 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship continues Saturday with the fourth and final starting flight for Event #1beginning at 12:10 p.m. local time and the PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to follow all the action.

Seymour Back in the Lead

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

After losing the big hand, Michael Seymour got three streets of value from Jonathan Karamalikis with {K-}{J-} on a jack-high board and jumped back into the lead. Seymour bagged up 167,900 chips and that is most likely the lead for Flight 3. The full chip counts will be available shortly, another 58 players advanced to Day 2.

Gift for Thomas

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Russell Thomas had just lost a small pot with pocket fours against the pocket aces of a short stack and then min-raised from the small blind. The player in the big blind moved all in for more than 20 big blinds with the {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Thomas snap-called with {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and the opponent disappeared from the table already. Usually that jinx works to enforce a magical suckout, but not this time as the board completed with the {6-Hearts} turn and {8-Spades} river.

Rupert Elder has been eliminated just before the end of the day.

No Low Board

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

A short stack shoved for around 20,000 and Sean Giesbrecht moved all in over the top to isolate successfully with {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. The short stack was hoping for a "low board baby" and somewhat got his wish granted. However, it was not enough as neither player hit on the board {10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Levy's Misery with Aces

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Daniel Levy was left with next to no chips and then reported duty. The Aussie had raised to 4,200 and picked up two callers to see a king-high flop. His pocket aces were cracked by the table neighbor with {K-}{10-} for two pair and Levy joked "and Daniel gets very sad". One hand later, Levy was all in with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}, even the same suit of the aces he held before.

Too bad that it was for just one big blind though. He even begged the dealer to put the {9-Spades} there, as his opponent held pocket nines. However, the board bricked and Levy more than just doubled up.

Seymour No Longer Chip Leader

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Michael Fu
Michael Fu

Michael Seymour three-bet to 11,500 and was called by Aditya Rao to set up a flop of {2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Rao check-called a bet of 9,500 and then Seymour jammed the {J-Diamonds} turn to get snap-called by Rao with {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. Seymour had a double gutshot with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} but didn't get there, a blank {A-Spades} river completed the board.

New chip leader is "Qiang" Michael Fu.

Last Level for Tonight

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

In half an hour, the clock will be stopped to play the last hands of the day and level 12 is officially the last level for tonight. The current average is at approximately 26 big blinds, so plenty of fireworks are expected still. After all, tomorrow is the last chance to try again and run up a fresh stack.
