On a board of and 12,000 in the pot, Mike McDonald had bet 4,000 from middle position and Tristan Clemencon had raised to 15,325. Timex took his time before moving all-in for 35,500. Clemencon had only 20,000 left and the decision was for his future in this tournament. He eventually found the fold.
"Bluff?" He asked.
"I will tell you after the tournament has finished," said Timex.
Phil Hellmuth made pot sized raise, 1,750, from the under the gun position to kick things off. Alexander Kuzmin, who is still sitting directly to his left, decided to make the call. Dermot Blain called from the small blind after which Michel Abecassis decided to shove all-in for his remaining 5,625. The rest of the players folded to Hellmuth who made the call. Than the unexpected happened, Alexander Kuzmin decided to shove all-in for a total of 22,925.
Hellmuth seemed baffled by the move the Russian just made and he tanked for minutes before folding his hand. "I'm folding kings," he shouted while showing and mucked his other two cards. Kuzmin turned over and Abecassis showed .
"Dang it!" Hellmuth yelled as the dealer showed the flop. "I folded king-king-seven-deuce". Hellmuth seemed very disappointed but when the hit the turn he sighed and said, "He has sixes full of sevens". The river was the and Abecassis tripled up leaving Kuzmin with only 17,000 chips. "I knew you were crazy!" Helllmuth continued his rant against Kuzmin who sheepishly replied with, "Can I win one please?".
The day is almost over but Hellmuth seems far from done playing and talking.
David Benyamine raised to 2,000 in the hijack seat and Pascal Leyo called in the small blind. They both shared a flop of and Leyo check-called a 2,800 Benyamine bet. The turn was the and Leyo turned aggressor with a 4,600 bet and Benyamine called. The river was the and Leyo check-called a 8,500 Benyamine bet.
Benyamine flashed him his hand and Leyo mucked his unseen before tapping the felt in recognition.
We didn't catch the pre flop action but Ted Lawson just got his last chips into the pot against Sam Trickett on a flop.
"Top set," Trickett quietly announced and Lawson sighed as he said, "Can I even win this hand?".
Ted Lawson
Sam Trickett
The turn was the and the river the , thus not changing the outcome of the hand. Trickett is back as one of the chip leaders with only 15 minutes to go before the end of the day.
Four players shared a flop of and all checked. The turn was the and Phil Hellmuth immediately announced pot (6,400). Alexander Kuzmin made the call and the two of them both shared the river together. Hellmuth checked.
"Why check?" Kuzmin asked before betting 6,900.
Hellmuth took his shades off (a sure fire sign of a rant), "this is getting a little aggravating now…it was fun when I knew I was going to bust you…when you were playing so many pots…but now I have top set…this is no fun anymore," said Hellmuth before folding.
"Top set Phil…you have top set?" Queried Kuzmin before flashing for a lower set.
After leaving the Phil Hellmuth hand we just reported on we came across a car-wreck involving Erich Kollmann, Vladimir Shchemelev and Bruno Benveniste.
