Day One Comes to a Close: Shannon Shorr Leads The Pack

Nível 8 : 300/600, 0 ante
Shannon Shorr - Day One Chip Leader
Shannon Shorr - Day One Chip Leader

Event #3 has come to a close with 49 players left from the starting field of 180. The man leading that field is Shannon Shorr with a stack size of 166,400. Shorr, who has just under $4 million in live tournament earnings has a fantastic poker resume but is missing a WSOP bracelet. Is Event #3 the one for Shorr? We are sure he will, be the first to admit that there is a long way to go, but he has a good enough chance as anyone.

Make sure you join us at 15:00 (CET) for Day Two where we will either play ten-levels or down to the final table (whichever comes first).

Hellmuth: This Is Not Fun Anymore!

Phil Hellmuth - The Shades Are Off!
Phil Hellmuth - The Shades Are Off!

Four players shared a flop of {J-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and all checked. The turn was the {8-Spades} and Phil Hellmuth immediately announced pot (6,400). Alexander Kuzmin made the call and the two of them both shared the river {2-Spades} together. Hellmuth checked.

"Why check?" Kuzmin asked before betting 6,900.

Hellmuth took his shades off (a sure fire sign of a rant), "this is getting a little aggravating now…it was fun when I knew I was going to bust you…when you were playing so many pots…but now I have top set…this is no fun anymore," said Hellmuth before folding.

"Top set Phil…you have top set?" Queried Kuzmin before flashing {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} for a lower set.

Top Set For Trickett Does The Trick

We didn't catch the pre flop action but Ted Lawson just got his last chips into the pot against Sam Trickett on a {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop.

"Top set," Trickett quietly announced and Lawson sighed as he said, "Can I even win this hand?".

Ted Lawson{A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Sam Trickett{A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The turn was the {4-Spades} and the river the {5-Diamonds}, thus not changing the outcome of the hand. Trickett is back as one of the chip leaders with only 15 minutes to go before the end of the day.

Benyamine Bouyant With a Boat

David Benyamine raised to 2,000 in the hijack seat and Pascal Leyo called in the small blind. They both shared a flop of {J-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} and Leyo check-called a 2,800 Benyamine bet. The turn was the {K-Clubs} and Leyo turned aggressor with a 4,600 bet and Benyamine called. The river was the {7-Spades} and Leyo check-called a 8,500 Benyamine bet.

Benyamine flashed him his hand and Leyo mucked his unseen before tapping the felt in recognition.
