Daniel Negreanu Has Been Eliminated

Daniel Negreanu busts at the hands of Benveniste
Daniel Negreanu busts at the hands of Benveniste

Daniel Negreanu has been eliminated by Bruno Benveniste who is now our chip leader.

There was a raise and cold call before the action fell to Daniel Negreanu and Bruno Benveniste in the blinds, and both players made it a four-way flop. When the dealer delivered it there were more clubs than you would find in Greg Normans garage.

Flop: {10-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {3-Clubs}

Negreanu checked, Benveniste took the betting lead and when it folded around to Negreanu he moved all-in for around 40,000. Benveniste snap-called and we had a showdown in a huge pot.

Benveniste{J-Clubs} {8-Clubs}
Negreanu{3-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}

Negreanu was desperate for the board to pair but the luck he needed never materialise and Negreanu left event #1.

Benyamine Still in the Running

One of the most accomplished French tournament players, David Benyamine, is still in the running here in Cannes. In the summer of 2008 Benyamine won his first and only WSOP Bracelet in the $10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo Split for an amount of $535,687. Benyamine has been quite so far in this tournament but with the money nearing he's still hovering around the average stack.

We just saw him in a hand against Dmitry Motorov where the board read {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} when both players decided to check. The turn was de {Q-Clubs} and Motorov bet out 3,100. Benyamine counted out a raise and threw in 7,700. This was enough to get Motorov to fold his cards. Benyamine has around 58,000 chips.

Only One Kenney Left!

Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

There is only one Kenney left in event #1, as Bryn Kenney has just been eliminated at the hands of Matan Krakow.

There was a five-way flop that looked like this - {J-Clubs} {6-Spades} {5-Hearts}. Four players checked to Bryn Kenney who was seated on the button and he bet 3,700. Adrien Allain and Shawn Buchanan both called before Matan Krakow moved all-in for 27,000. Kenney made the call and Allain and Buchanan decided to let them have this one dance together.

Krakow{8-Spades} {7-Clubs}
Kenney{6-} {5-}

Kenney was ahead and was looking good for a double up until the {4-Hearts} turn gave Krakow the straight sending Kenney spinning out of the competition.

One Table Before the Money

Nível 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

At the moment, we've got 42 players remaining with 36 players getting paid. This is a six-max tournament so we need to lose one more full table in order for the rest to cash. The first payout level will be €4,536.

Alexander Salabaschew Joins the Hundred Club

Adrian Allain raised to 2,200 from the hijack and Alexander Salabaschew called in the small blind. The flop was {7-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {2-Clubs} and Salabaschew check-called a 2,700 bet. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and once again Salabaschew check-called, this time 4,100. The river was the {J-Spades} and both players decided they had finished their action and Salabaschew won the pot.

Salabaschew is one of this players who doesn't like to make things easy for us. His stack is not easy to count but we believe he has around 100,000.

Jetten Still Strong

Peter Jetten
Peter Jetten

Peter Jetten is one of the big guns still in the hunt for the first WSOPE bracelet. After being very close in 2008 when he finished second in the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha he's probably very eager to take this one down.

We just saw {Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} on the table in a pot between Jetten and Azusa Maeda. After the Canadien bet 16,000 into the 22,000 pot he got his opponent to fold. Jetten is now close to the 100,000 mark while Maeda is also having a great day, he's up to 111,000.

A Few Hellmuth Pots

Phil Hellmuth raised to 3,000 on the button, and the small blind made it 7,000 to play before Hellmuth peeled one off in position. The action was checked through to the river on a board of {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {7-Spades} {10-Hearts} {K-Spades} and Hellmuth bet 11,000 to win the pot.

In the next hand Hellmuth raised to 3,000 in the cut-off and Jonathan Maisonneuve moved all-in from the big blind. It was 4,300 more for Hellmuth.

"You got me this time but I have to call," said the Poker Brat.

Maisonneuve{A-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}
Hellmuth{K-Hearts} {7-Spades}

Board: {J-Spades} {8-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}

A double up for Maisonneueve. It is pretty impossible to work out the hellmuth stack with any accuracy because it is literally all over the place but we cannot be too far away from 175,000

Rettenmaiaer Lets One Go

Marvin Rettenmaier is usually one of those guys who gets you with a check-raise or some other creative move, but this time he decided to take it easy. The German grinder raised to 2,100 and Tod Terry decided to three-bet in position to 5,700. The rest of the players folded and Rettenmaier called.

The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Rettenmaier checked to Terry who bet 6,000. Wit a very sour face the German folded leaving himself with 68,000 chips. Terry is back up to 40,000 and both players are still in the race to cash this tournament.
