Abe Mosseri Leads the Pack Going Into Day Three

Welcome to the final day of Event #9, $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship where 17 players return with a chance for the title. The cards will be in the air at 2:00 p.m. local time. The field is led by Abe Mosseri (1,1855,000), but six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu looms not too far back. Yarron Bendor (1,195,000) is behind Mosseri in second place, while Christopher Vitch (676,000) is third in chips.

The tournament started with 154 players and the play is to play down to a champion today. Everyone who remains is guaranteed a payout of $16,958, with first place paying $391,313, plus the coveted gold bracelet.

The players will vie through 10 one-hour levels, with 15-minute breaks every two levels and a one-hour dinner break after six levels today. As noted they are scheduled to play down to a winner, but if that is not possible then the players can opt to play an extra one level if they are heads-up. If heads-up hasn't been reached by the end of today's 10 levels, then play will conclude on an added Day 4.

Stay tuned to PokerNews.com throughout the day for all the live action as it happens starting at 2 p.m local time.

On the first hand, Mike Matusow raised from under the gun and Abe Mosseri who was next to act re-raised. Ilya Dyment called from the small blind as did Matusow.

On the {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop Dyment checked, Matusow bet and Mosseri folded. Dyment raised enough to put Matusow all in who called.

Mike Matusow: {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Ilya Dyment: {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

The board bricked out for Dyment, Matusow won the pot and said "Double-up first hand, I told you." Meanwhile Fabrice Soulier noted that it was more of a triple-up. Matusow then said "Over 200 now, watch out" to his railbirds.

Dermer Doubles Through Soulier and Accuses him of Angling

Nível 16 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante
Aron Dermer
Aron Dermer

Aron Dermer raised from the button and Fabrice Soulier defended the big blind.

On the {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop Soulier check-raised Dermer's bet and Dermer attempted to move all in however he had too many chips to do so. Before Soulier could act, Dermer flipped over his {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a flopped full house.

Soulier sat quietly without saying anything as he hadn't called yet but Dermer said that Soulier had called his shove and accused Soulier of angle shooting. Soulier eventually called the bet so Dermer still had chips behind and he was all in and at risk when the {2-Spades} hit the turn.

Soulier turned over {A-}{K-}{10-}{8-} for a low draw to split the pot but the river was a {K-} and Dermer doubled up.

Dermer then put out his hand to shake Soulier's and make peace however Soulier refused and said "Now you win so you want to shake my hand" and Dermer responded with "#$%* you".

The floor man came over and eventually both players shook hands however the conversation was the hot topic of conversation at the table for a while.

The {6-Clubs} river was checked through, and Shak showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. His kings up were good for the triple-up.

Ray Dehkharghani recalled for us how Matt Woodward was recently eliminated from the tournament.

Philip Long raised from under the gun before Woodward reraised from the small blind. Long called and both players watched the flop come {q-}{9-}{2-}. Woodward bet and Long raised. The two exchanged several more bets until Woodward was all in.

Long: {a-}{8-}{2-}{2-}
Woodward: {a-}{k-}{j-}{6-Clubs}

Long had flopped a set of deuces, which would ultimately win him the hand, resulting in Woodward being the first player eliminated today.
