Jason Mercier is continuing his bracelet hunt, as he has just jumped into the field here on Day 1a. He is one of a few players who has jumped in after bagging up in the Main Event yesterday. Mercier bagged 28,400, so he has some work to do tomorrow, but he is hoping to find another bag tonight to extend his summer a bit more.
The player under the gun raised to 750. Paul W. Lee was on the button and three-bet to 2,400, and his opponent called.
The flop was , and the under-the-gun player check-called lee's bet of 2,400. The turn was the , and under the gun checked again. Lee fired out 7,000, and his opponent check-raised to 14,000. Lee then snap re-raised to 32,000 total, sending his opponent into the tank.
After a couple of minutes, the under-the-gun player decided to muck, and Lee raked in a nice pot.
Adam Owen was heads-up on a completed board of when his opponent checked to him. Owen assembled a bet of 4,700, which was just over a half-pot-sized bet, and his opponent thought it over for about a minute before he released his hand.
Owen might have gotten a late start due to his hair appointment, but he is steadily chipping up with just under 30,000 now.
After an early-position raise to 800, David "ODB" Baker re-raised it to 2,500. It folded back to the original raiser, who called, and the flop came down . Baker's opponent went to grab his chips a couple of times, looking ready to bet, but he ended up checking. Baker fired out the same bet, 2,500, and his opponent didn't take very long to fold.
The floor was at the table sorting out an issue from the previous hand in which James Woods lost majority of his chips. Woods received an unfavorable ruling and was all in for his last 250 against Roman Valerstein.
