The big chip leader is also the biggest name left in the field: Matt Berkey. Berkey was near the top of the counts for most of yesterday, but hit a late surge in the last two levels that saw him bag a massive stack of 12 million. His next-closest competitor, Giuseppe Pantaleo, has less than half of that with 5.175 million.
The other big story in the field today is Dejuante Alexander. He came oh so close to his first WSOP bracelet earlier this summer when he finished runner-up in the Millionaire Maker to Pablo Mariz. Alexander took a tough beat heads up when his aces were cracked by the pocket threes of Mariz. He will be looking for redemption here today, but he has some work to do with a below-average stack.
