Matt Downs Defends

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Matthew Downs
Matthew Downs

Table draws are important in tournament poker, so it is less than ideal to find yourself seated at the chip leader's table and potentially facing 10 levels of play.

That is the situation in which players at Table 45 find themselves as Matt Downs is the only player in the tournament with a stack of over 300,000. One of the players at that table is Kitty Kuo. Another is Marc-Andre Ladouceur who just opened an early pot from late position for 2,800 and Downs called from the small blind.

Downs checked in the dark and the flop was {k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Ladouceur bet 3,500 and Downs called.

The turn card {9-Diamonds} was checked through, then on the river {6-Hearts} Downs bet 20,000. Ladouceur didn’t look wholly convinced, but nevertheless he let his hand go.

Conrad Chips Up Early

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

With about 10,000 in the pot and the board reading {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, John Lewis was in the big blind and checked. Christian Conrad was in the hijack and bet 5,100. Lewis check-raised to 12,000 and Conrad called.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Lewis fired out a bet of 24,000. Conrad called.

The river was the {a-Diamonds} and Lewis checked. Conrad moved all in for roughly 40,000. "You don't like to fold," said Lewis. "Just get there on the river," he added as he mucked his cards. Conrad just smiled as he raked in the chips.
