While some tables still have as many players as they started with, other tables are nearing closer to a winner. We have our first heads-up battle between Kelly Kellner and Jeremy Joseph who are about evenly stacked.
A player opened the button to 525 and Mike Leah raised to 1,525 from the small blind. Kitty Kuo reraised from the small blind to 5,225 and the player on the button folded. Leah went all in and Kuo called.
Leah was slightly in the lead with pocket tens, , against the of Kuo. Kuo flopped an ace on the board and eliminated Leah.
A player went all in for his remaining 2,075 chips and the next player to act reraised to 4,000. Jean-Pascal Savard shoved over the top for 19,050 and the reraiser went into the tank. He took more than a minute to make his decision before finally deciding to fold.
Savard turned over pocket queens, , and was in the lead over his all-in opponent's pocket tens, . The player who had just folded patted himself on the back as the board ran out and Savard won the hand to earn the knockout.
As the Event #3: $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout approaches the first break of the day, here are a few quick updates on the field.
Andy Philachack is already up to 38,000 with six players remaining at his table. Registration is still open for another 20 minutes, so he might have to go through another player or two once all the players are seated.
Taylor Paur shoved the river on Humberto Brenes. The board was and Brenes had bet an unknown amount using a 5,000 chip. Paur was all in for 9,250 into the pot of about 9,400. Brenes folded.
Liv Boeree has joined the field. Boeree and Igor Kurganov bagged a stack last night in the Event #2: $10,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em Championship which restarts at 2 p.m.
Table 170 which we featured before has definitely had the attention of the room thus far. Antonio Esfandiari has been discussing with players at both the table and at other tables about what percentage of players in the Main Event are virgins.
As the discussion was going on, Dan O'Brien opened to 400 and received three callers including Benjamin Ludlow from the big blind.
The flop came and O'Brien led out for 1,000 and got two calls including Ludlow.
The turn was the and this time it was checked to the third player in the hand who bet 2,000. Ludlow thought for a while before folding and O'Brien called.
The river was the and both players checked. O'Brien turned over and his jack-high flush was the winner.
