Event #10: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em

Dia 1 Começado

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #10: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em

Doug Polk is the defending champion along with Ryan Fee

At 11 a.m. local time, Day 1 of the Event #10: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em kicks off, the second time a team tournament will be taking place during the 2017 World Series of Poker.

First introduced in 2016, the "tag team" format quickly picked up a lot of interest from players and ensured plenty of fun at the tables and on the rail. A $10,000 edition of the event this year has already crowned a champion, with the poker couple Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov each claiming first gold bracelets just two days ago.

The defending champions in this event are Doug Polk and Ryan Fee who emerged victorious in a 863-entry strong field and took the lion's share of last year's $776,700 prize pool, splitting the first-place prize of $153,358 evenly. Whether or not Polk will defend his title remains unknown for now, as the American poker pro has reached the final table of Event #6: High Roller for One Drop - $111,111 No-Limit Hold'em that will play down to a winner today.

The team captain can buy in at the cage for $1,000. All members of the team DO NOT have to register at the same time, but it is certainly encouraged that they do so. Other team members can register separately, provided they provide the team captain's last name and last 4 digits of the team captain's Total Rewards card number.

Important things to know:

  • Each teammate must check in at his or her table prior to the end of registration period. Teammates must play at least one round of blinds at some point in tournament or the team will be disqualified.
  • Players may tag in a teammate anytime he/she is not in an active hand.
  • Payouts will be calculated based on the total number of teams and be distributed evenly among teammate(s).
  • Doors will open in the Amazon room at 9 a.m. today to register teams. Players must bring their team's copy of the receipts to be checked into the tournament.

The action will kick off two hours later at 11 a.m. with all participating teams receiving 5,000 in chips to start. A total of 10 levels of 60 minutes each are scheduled for Day 1, and the late registration remains open for six levels (until around 7:10 p.m.). There will be a 20-minute break every two levels and a 90-minute dinner break after the end of Level 6. As a result play will conclude at approximately 11:30 p.m. local time.

Amazon Room Gets Crowded, Cards Will Be in the Air Soon

While poker is generally a mind game for individuals, a "tag team" tournament is a fine way for players who want to experience the team spirit of poker. They are sharing their chip stack with fellow grinders, in teams of two, three or four players, which can add a sense of camaraderie and teamwork to go along with the competition. Just ask Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov — they can tell you something about the unique feeling of winning a bracelet as a team. The couple scooped the title in the Event #2: $10,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em Championship last week.

It's now about time to start the team journey in the $1,000 edition of this event as hundreds of players are lining up at the tables in the "Tan" and "Orange" sections in the famous Amazon Room. There is a slight delay as teams are still checking in before taking their seats — the battles will be on shortly!

Team Magnus Featuring Andrew Rubinberg and Jim Juvancic

Two-time WSOP Circuit winner Nadezhda Magnus may be busy playing Day 2 of the Event #5: THE COLOSSUS III - $565 No-Limit Hold'em in the Pavilion Room, but she'll also have her shot at her first bracelet in the $1,000 Tag Team Event today.

Magnus tweeted about her plans to multi-table, revealing fellow Americans Andrew Rubinberg and Jim Juvancic as her teammates. PokerNews staff predicted Juvancic to be one of the rising stars who could storm through the World Series of Poker towards this year's Player of the Year title. Magnus and Rubinberg are certainly on the same page with us, trusting Juvancic's abilities, too.

Hendrix and Pittman Score Pots

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Aaron Hendrix
Aaron Hendrix

Alyssa Pittman has started well to score some chips early on and add to the starting stack. Aaron Hendrix did so soon after for his team as well in a hand involving the two of them plus a third player.

On the flop of {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, Hendrix checked and so did Pittman. The button bet 300 and Hendrix was the only caller. Hendrix then check-called two further bets of 300 on both the {6-Diamonds} turn and the {8-Diamonds} river.

The button rolled over {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a full house, but Hendrix had that beat with {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for the better full house.

Steven van Zadelhoff Leads a Star-Studded Team Including a November Niner and Two Multiple Bracelet Winners

The unmissable Dutchman Steve van Zadelhoff is playing on Table 70. Van Zadelhoff is captaining a strong group of four players who surely combine for one of the most accomplished teams in the room. Van Zadelhoff's buddies are last year's November Niner Kenny Hallaert, two-time bracelet winner Kristen Bicknell and three-time bracelet owner Benny Glaser.

However, the captain confirmed it will be he himself maneuvering their chip stack for the vast majority of today's play as van Zadelhoff's comrades are grinding in other events.
