Back in the Game with Quads

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

After a raise to 1,700, Christopher Back three-bet shoved out of the big blind for 10,575 with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. "Is that an all in?" the initial raiser asked, and once confirmed, he snap-called and tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

Back got there on the {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{7-Spades} flop, only to see the nightmare {A-Spades} turn follow right after. Only one out was left in the deck, and the {Q-Diamonds} river gave Back quads and drew a gasp from the entire table.

Vornicu Takes a Hit

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Philipp Zukernik raised to 1,300 and called the three-bet of Valentin Vornicu from one seat over to 3,000 in total. On a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Tsukernik check-raised all in for 13,000 with the {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Vornicu called with {Q-}{10-} for top pair.

While the {10-Clubs} on the turn failed to improve Zukernik and took away an out, the {3-Hearts} on the river completed a flush and the four-man team doubled.

Goodbye Double for Sam Cohen Through Michael Mizrachi

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Sam Cohen (as seen in a previous event)
Sam Cohen (as seen in a previous event)

Just before their table was broken, Sam Cohen and Michael Mizrachi clashed.

It started ordinarily, as Mizrachi opened to 1,325 from the hijack. Cohen defended her big blind with a call, and the flop came {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Cohen checked, and Mizrachi bet 1,000. Cohen decided to check-raise, making it 3,600 to go. The next actions followed in the blink of an eye. Mizrachi instantly said, "All in," and Cohen called within a second.

Sam Cohen {6-Spades}{2-Spades}
Michael Mizrachi {J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Mizrachi still had outs to draw for a bigger two pair, and he got a whole lot more options to scoop the pot when the {10-Hearts} hit the felt on the turn. However, it wasn't meant to be for Mizrachi this time, as the river bricked. Cohen's double-up was worth 15,050.

The racks landed on the table shortly thereafter, and the players moved their chips to new seats.

Duthie Check-Raise-Folds vs. Agarwal

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Aditya Agarwal opened from the button, and John Duthie flatted from the big blind to see the flop come {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Duthie let Agarwal fire a 1,300-chip continuation bet, then opted to check-raise to 4,600. Agarwal wasn't done just yet, though, and he moved all-in. Duthie, with that what-can-I-do? look on his face, folded.

Zisimopoulos With the Right Call

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The bet of David Levi on the {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} board was for 2,100, and Georgios Zisimopoulos called to see the {2-Diamonds} fall on the river. Levi bet 13,300 — just shy of the size of the pot — and Zisimopoulos took quite some time before calling for one third of his stack.

Levi rolled over {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Zisimopoulos had that beat with {A-Spades}{J-Spades} to claim the sizable pot.

Lech Flops Well to Stay In

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

"We shouldn't have had the shots in the last break. Darius came back with 10,000," Michael Lech said. The American jammed for 6,600 on the button, and the small blind re-shoved.

Lech turned over {K-Spades}{3-Clubs}, and the button was ahead with {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. That lead only lasted until the {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop, improving Lech to a full house. Only running queens would eliminate Lech and his teammate Darius Tamulevicius, but the double was confirmed with the {9-Clubs} turn and {9-Hearts} river.

Luca Exits After Bluffing Off His Stack with Six-High

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Ivan Luca (as seen in a previous event)
Ivan Luca (as seen in a previous event)

What had started well for Maria Lampropulos and Ivan Luca has eventually become a short-lived tale. The pair lasted just under two levels in the tournament.

The hand started when Stephen Dees, one of the chip leaders, opened to 1,500 from the hijack. On the button, Ivan Luca responded with a three-bet, making it 3,500. John Green came along with a call in the big blind, and Dees accepted the invitation to the flop, too.

All three players checked when the {J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop landed, and the action commenced on the {7-Spades} turn. Luca, who was last to act, saw his opponents check again. He took his chance to bite, placing in a 3,000 bet. He received two calls.

The {K-Hearts} completed the board. Green and Dees checked yet again, and Luca moved all-in for just over 8,000. Green didn't hesitate before calling, and Dees sighed. "Damn. Got it all, huh?" he said. He eventually layed his hand down.

Meanwhile, Luca already knew that nothing could change his fate. He showed a stone-cold bluff with {6-}{5-}, playing the board. Green's {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} was a comfortable winner.

Yu Among Big Stacks

Nível 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Ben Yu and his partner Jacob Wilson have been flying under the radar but just emerged with one of the bigger stacks in the room. It was Yu in action in the small blind, and he limped in. Pablo Mariz raised to 2,000 in the big blind, and Yu called.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, and both players checked. On the {3-Diamonds} turn, Yu checked, and Mariz claimed the pot with a bet worth 1,400.

Another notable team that has a decent stack includes Steven McNally and Jon Turner.
