Day 2 of Event #82: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed at the 2023 World Series of Poker has come to an end, and Dustin Goldklang (4,225,000) leads the final 35 players into Day 3.

Marc Lagaze (2,530,000), Matthew Parry (2,500,000), and Benjamin Juhasz (2,480,000) round out the top five while Lukas Zaskodny (2,035,000) is the only other player over two million chips.

Day 2 Highlights

A total of 216 players returned for Day 2 after the event drew 1,013 entries, creating a prize pool of $2,704,710.

Goldklang has the lead after he consistently chipped up all day and made a charge in the final levels thanks to the double knockout of Sam Farha and Francisco Perez Moreno.

Day 1 chip leader Tyler Gaston picked up where he left off, and his strong Day 2 yielded an eighth-best 1,745,000 in the bag for Day 3. Gaston, a public defender in Las Vegas, has over $700,000 in career earnings thanks, in part, to a third-place finish in the 2022 edition of the Millionaire Maker event for $522,705.

Brandon Shack-Harris also returns with a top-ten stack in search of his third WSOP title on Day 3. Both of his bracelets have come in Pot-Limit Omaha events – the first coming in 2014 in the $1,000 edition and again in 2016 in the $10,000 championship. Shack-Harris is joined in the top ten by bracelet winners Drinan and Zaskodny. Drinan won previously in the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo event in 2021 and on WSOP Online in 2020. Zaskodny won his title in the €2,200 Pot-Limit Omaha event at WSOP Europe in 2021.

Other bracelet winners returning for another taste on Day 3 include three-time winner Norbert Szecsi and recent winner Ian Matakis. Matakis is currently in the top spot on the Player of the Year leaderboard and a strong finish will put some space between him and the rest of the field.

Other returning players include Kane Kalas, Sokchheka Pho, and Joshua Stefansky.

Each of the returning 35 players is guaranteed $13,343, while the winner will take home $480,122 and the WSOP gold bracelet. Players return at 1:00 p.m. local on July 13 for Day 3, and blinds will resume in Level 21 at 10,000/25,000 with a 25,000 ante.

They're Cheering for Sammy

Nível 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Sam Farha
Sam Farha

Sam Farha's table is nearest to the area where the Main Event is behind held and a small crowd has gathered on his rail.

"Who are you cheering for?" Farha asked them.

The small crowd responded with calls of "You!" and "Sammy!" - but Farha suspected otherwise.

"Are you cheering for me or are you cheering for him?" Farha asked while pointing at the Hungarian Norbert Szecsi.

"Fifty percent you and fifty percent him," one railbird answered.

"That's fair," said Farha with a smile.

Will Berry had raised to 30,000 from middle position and Farha was the lone caller from the button. The flop was 47J and both players checked to see 5 on the turn. Berry bet 30,000 and Farha gave it up without much hesitation.

Meanwhile, Dylan Weisman was seen exiting the tournament area.

Nicholas Rigby
Nicholas Rigby

For the second time in three years, Nicholas Rigby was eliminated on Day 6 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, this time for losing a race on the featured table.

The Pittsburgh area poker player who was one of the more entertaining characters in the field, went out in 131st place ($67,700) in the largest Main Event ever (10,043 entries). He finished 52nd in 2021, and like this year, spent much of his final few sessions seated at the PokerGO live-stream tables.

Dylan Weisman

Joshua Stefansky raised to 15,000 from the button and Brandon Shack-Harris made it 70,000 from the big blind. Stefansky got away from it without much hesitation and Shack-Harris took the small pot without a flop.

On the next hand, Daniel Negreanu raised from under the gun to 25,000 and George Abi-Zeid called from the big blind. The flop was K9K and Abi-Zeid checked.

"Here's 20 for you," Negreanu said as he fired a bet of 20,000.

Abi-Zeid went into the tank for a moment before he ultimately decided to get away from it. Negreanu showed the K to PokerNews and then flashed it to the table before he dragged in the pot.

One hand later, Ian Matakis limped in from the cutoff and Shack-Harris called from the button before Abi-Zeid came along in the small blind and Dylan Weisman checked his option from the big blind. The flop was 410Q and both Abi-Zeid and Weisman checked. Matakis bet 25,000 and Shack-Harris called before Abi-Zeid and Weisman got out of the way.

Both remaining players checked down the 6 turn and 4 river before Matakis showed KQ99 to take the pot with kings and fours.
