Al-Sadoun Leads Coming into Day 3; Madsen Going for Bracelet Number Five

The final day of Event #78: $1,500 Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha at the 2023 World Series of Poker is here and only 15 hopefuls remain in the hunt for the gold bracelet. Players will return to Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas today at 2 p.m. local time to battle it out for the $171,742 first-place prize and the most sought after trophy in all of poker.

Satar Al-Sadoun will return to the chip lead after bagging 4,800,000, which will represent 96 big blinds when play gets underway. Sitting just beneath him in the counts is Thomas Skaggs (3,530,000) and David Hu (3,275,000), both of whom will look to put up a roadblock in Al-Sadoun's path to victory.

The rest of the field will all return with the same goal in mind as both Noah Schwartz (1,100,000) and Jeff Madsen (945,000) will be in the hunt to add to their bracelet count. Other notables to keep an eye on will be Diogo Veiga (630,000) who finished ninth in this event last year and Ryan Coon (2,035,000), who already has a runner-up finish in a $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event at this year's WSOP.

All remaining players are guaranteed to earn at least $8,215, in addition to a $500 bounty for any player they eliminate during the day.

The finale promises to be filled with action as the pace of play has remained fast and furious throughout and with a few players on shorter stacks, we expect to see some early all-ins leading to double ups or early exits as players make their push toward the final table and ultimately, WSOP gold.

Play will consist of 60-minutes levels with blinds starting at 25,000/50,000 and a big blind ante of 50,000 with the tournament playing down to a winner making this is a day of poker you certainly don't want to miss!

Diogo Veiga raised to 175,000, Ryan Coon raised that to 400,000, and Veiga responded with an all in. Coon made the call and both hands were turned over.

Coon was in decent shape with his pair of jacks versus the pair of ten of Veiga, even more so because they both had an ace.

The flop fanned out 5♣6♠8♥, which didn't change much. Neither did the 9♦ on the turn and the 5♠ needlessly improved Coon to trips as he scooped the pot.

Everett Carlton Eliminated in 14th Place ($8,215)

Vincent Moscati raised to 100,000 from under the gun and got called by Everett Carlton leading to a Q♠J♣J♦ flop.

Carlton led with a bet of 100,000 and Moscati called to bring the 6♥ out on the turn.

Carlton checked over to Moscati who tossed out a bet of 75,000. Carlton opted to make the call and see the 5♠ fall on the river.

Carlton paused very briefly before announcing all in and seeing an immediate call from Moscati who quickly tabled the A♥A♦Q♣Q♦ having flopped the nut full house.

Carlton turned over the 10♠9♦8♦7♣ for the pure bluff as he was sent to the exit in 14th place for $8,215.

Jonathan Cameron Eliminated in 13th Place ($8,215)

Satar Al-Sadoun raised to 125,000 from middle position and action folded around to Jonathan Cameron in the big blind who started the hand with 175,000 remaining chips.

Cameron raised for his last 50,000 and Al-Sadoun made the call to put Cameron at risk and headed to a runout.

Cameron was looking for some help but when the board ran out 7♥6♣8♠8♦7♣, Al-Sadoun made trip eights while Cameron was left unimproved as he stood to exit the tournament in 13th place for $8,215.

Jeff Madsen Eliminated in 12th Place ($8,215)

Sergio Martinez limped from early position and Jeff Madsen potted it off his short stack. Giuseppe Maggisano repotted, causing Martinez to fold and Madsen to get the rest of his chips in the middle.

Maggisano had the hand to beat, as he woke up with aces and a suit.

The flop rolled 6♦9♥6♠ which was no help to Madsen. The turn was the 10♦, opening up Madsen to a straight draw and a flush draw. His hopes were dashed, however, when the river paired the board with the 9♣.

Madsen won't be earning his 5th bracelet today but it was a tremendous run regardless.

Ryan Coon Eliminated in 11th Place ($10,337)

On a flop reading 8♠J♥Q♥, Ryan Coon put all his chips in and got called by David Hu to send both players to a runout with Coon the player at risk.

The flop was a set-over-set situation with Coon the benefactor, but Hu had a redraw with straight outs and heart-flush outs. When the turn came the 2♥, Coon was looking for the board to pair on the river to keep his bracelet hopes alive, but alas, the 6♣ river produced no improvement for Coon who was sent to the exit in 11th place for $10,337.

Giuseppe Maggisano Eliminated in 10th Place ($10,337)

On a board reading 10♦2♠3x10♠, Thomas Skaggs checked the small blind to Giuseppe Maggisano on the button who tossed out a bet of 200,000.

Skaggs paused before putting in a check-raise to 800,000. Maggisano, after a brief moment of thought, jammed for the rest of his stack and Skaggs quickly called to send both players to a runout with Maggisano at risk.

Both players had a ten but Skaggs held a three as well, giving a full house.

Maggisano would need an ace or a queen on the river while a nine would chop the pot, but when the river came the K♦, Giuseppe Maggisano was sent to the rail in 10th place for $10,337.

Moscati Raises on the River to Take a Pot

Vincent Moscati raised to 160,000 from late position and got called by Noah Schwartz in the big blind leading to a 7♣Q♣10♦ flop.

Action checked through to the 6♠ turn.

Schwartz led out for 325,000 and after about two minutes in the tank, Moscati tossed in the call to see the 4♦ fall on the river.

Schwartz led out again, this time for 600,000. Moscati paused briefly before counting out a raise and sliding 1,250,000 into the middle.

Schwartz quickly folded, sending the pot to Moscati uncontested.

A particulary fair fight, as both players had aces with a suit. The flop favored Moscati when it scrolled across 9♥3♥Q♦. The 3♣ was a brick, and the 10♦ river gave no one any help so they chopped the pot.

Schwartz Misreads Board, Doubles Up Thinking He Lost

Noah Schwartz limped from middle position with the small blind limping too, and Paul Spitzberg checking his option in the big blind to see a A♦8♠J♠ flop.

The small blind checked as did Spitzberg. Schwartz bet 175,000.

The small blind folded but Spitzberg responded by announcing "pot," which was good for an 845,000-chip check-raise. Schwartz looked to his friend on the rail who was mid-massage and said, "We're gonna be all in" before raising the rest of his chips.

Spitzberg called for not much more to put Schwartz at risk as they headed to a runout.

Schwartz was way ahead but the A♣ turn gave his opponent a lot of outs to win the pot — kings, sixes, sevens or the last ace in the deck.

Schwartz was looking to avoid paint and three-sided cards and when the river came the 8♦, he jumped up, thinking he had lost the pot.

The whole table stared at the board confused, trying to figure out how he lost. Even his friend had to interrupt his massage to get a good look at the board, but eventually the table called Schwartz over to point out that he had actually doubled up.

Schwartz immediately apologized for his minor outburst and the whole table had a good laugh as the pot was pushed in his direction.

"I'm getting too old for this shit!" he said as the next hand was being dealt.
