One, Olga Iermolcheva, ran a stack of 65,000 to a whopping 1,125,000 over a span of two hours. She has had plenty of deep runs this summer already, including a win at the $500 Ladies Championship at the Orlean’s Summer Open for $14,350, as well as a 19th place finish here at the Event #11: $600 NLH Deepstack for $ 13,438. There was one hand she might have talked herself out of risk that may have been pivotal in her arriving where she did.

Alan Chute bagged a tremendous 1,326,000 at the end of the day thanks to cracking the aces of bracelet winner Lori Eisenberg, who had accumulated quite the stack but was thwarted at the end of day. Chute’s biggest documented score was for $ 8,920 in a Daily Deepstack this summer and he’ll be looking to best that if he can keep up his trajectory going into Day 2.

Marle Spragg and Benjamin Spragg, quite the power couple, were both in attendance and riding a deep run going into the money. Mrs. Spragg bagged this tournament in 2022 but came just short this time, as she was seen heading to the payouts in the last level of the evening. Mr. Spragg did spin his stack up to an impressive 623,000 by night’s end.

Plenty of big names, including the likes of Alejandro Lococo, Ben Yu, and Allen Cunningham all fell before the end of day.

Player’s who bagged will be ineligible to play the next flight but even those that cashed have another opportunity to run the gauntlet if they so choose.

The remaining players will be returning on Sunday, July 2nd at 10 a.m. local time to play a full 15 levels. They'll be joined by the survivors of Day 1b which takes place July 1st at 10 a.m. local time. Stay tuned in to PokerNews to catch it as it happens live.

Kevin Martin
Kevin Martin

Kevin Martin raised 16,000 under the gun and he was called by a player a couple of spots to his left, as well as the big blind.

The dealer spread a flop of 973, and the big blind check-called a bet of 22,000, while the third player got out of the way.

The 3 landed on the turn and the big blind check-called another bet, this time Martin fired 37,000.

When the 6 completed the board, the big blind checked for a final time. Martin paused for about 20 seconds with a stone face and jammed his remaining stack of 139,000.

"This is so sick," said the big blind, "I am so under-repped here."

After about a minute, the big blind dropped a stack across the line to make the call.

Martin quickly showed QQ, which defeated his opponents 1010 for a big double nearing the bubble.

One for Iermolcheva

Nível 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Olga Iermolcheva
Olga Iermolcheva

Olga Iermolcheva was facing a raise to 10,000 and when she looked at the clock to see what the blind level was, she shrugged and went all in.

When the player on the button went to sweat his cards to see if he had a hand to call with, Iermolcheva expressively waved her hand at at him saying, "Easy fold, easy fold." He laughed and told her she was right.

By the time it got back to the initial raiser, she was asked, "Do you want me to call?"

Candidly, Iermolcheva responsed with, "Honestly, no; I don't want a call. Normally, I would never say this, but if you fold I will show."

Not convinced, the initial raiser shook her head and contemplated the call but ultimately folding AK and Iermolcheva lived up to her word and showed 1010.

Her opponent said she put her on a big pair and that it wasn't worth it to put her chips at risk and Iermolcheva wholeheartedly agreed.

Lexy Gavin-Mather

Horseshoe Sections - Level 4: Blinds 300/500

A player in middle position raised to 1,000 and was called by the player directly to his left. Lexy Gavin-Mather then raised to an even 5,000 from the blind.

The initial raiser called and the player in between folded. Heads up they saw a flop of K37. This time Gavin-Mather downsized to 3,600 and was called yet again.

The turn brought the 6 and she fired for a larger 12,500. At this point in the hand, the gentleman in middle position asked Gavin-Mather, "Do you have a big hand?" Gavin-Mather didn't offer any information, despite maintaining a friendly demeanor.

"Alright..." said her opponent as he picked up his hand and swished two queens back and forth before throwing them in the muck, "I fold my pair of queens to you."

Lexy Gavin-Mather then went on to say, "Okay, just because PokerNews is here..." and showed her AQ to the table, going on to say, "That was my only bluff today...".

Her tablemates chimed in that they weren't so sure of that and continued to play on.

The river peeled the 9 and, again, Thomas tapped the table. Colquhoun bet a single red chip, setting the price to 5,000. This time he was faced with a raise as Thomas kicked it up to 12,000 and he called.

Colquhoun saw the bad news when Thomas rolled the Q5 for the rivered flush and Colquhoun showed the QJ for the rivered straight and even a diamond blocker to boot, but it wasn't enough to win the pot.
