Laskowitz Sends Oya Into the Tank

With around 120,000 in the pot on a board of J♣10♠9♠3♣, Masashi Oya bet 85,000 from the small blind as action was on Sam Laskowitz in the big blind.

Laskowitz used a time bank chip before he moved all in for 253,000. Oya leaned back in his seat and asked for a count before he also tossed in a time bank. He eventually decided to fold as Laskowitz took in the big pot.

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is right around the corner. Running from May 30-July 18, the 54th Annual WSOP will return to the Las Vegas Strip for the second year in a row for a total of 95 bracelets — the most at a live WSOP in history.

In addition, there will be 20 bracelets – up from 13 last year – awarded on WSOP.com in the merged network of New Jersey and Nevada, while the segregated markets of Pennsylvania and Michigan each awarding seven bracelets.

Rezaei Running Hot, Knocks Out Shorr

Daniel Rezaei and Shannon Shorr both checked a K♥10♥8♣ flop.

When the turn brought the 7♥, Rezaei checked again, Shorr bet 11,000 of his 85,000 remaining chips, and Rezaei called.

On a 5♠ river Rezaei put 150,000 chips in the middle to put the rest of Shorr's stack to the test. Shorr used two time banks before he made the call with A♥10♠. Rezaei showed 9♥8♥ for the turned flush, sending Shorr to the rail or to the cage.

Bromfman Picks Up Aces, Feeling Confident

A player under the gun moved all in for 140,000 and was called by Pedro Bromfman in the cutoff as action folded around to Keith Lehr in the big blind. "I liked one," Lehr said before mucking, leaving Bromfman heads up and poised for a knockout.

The Brazilian bracelet winner had his opponent crushed as the board came 2♦6♠8♠3♦10♣, keeping his aces in front and securing the knockout.

"I feel like I'm going to win this one. Last time I felt like that was the 2-7 last year," Bromfman said, alluding to his bracelet win at last year's WSOP.

Jorstad Folds to River Shove in Massive Pot

Espen Jorstad and Lewis Spencer had already built a pot of around 200,000 heading to the river on a board of 6♠9♣5♥10♠9♠. Jorstad, in the big blind, led out for 80,000.

Spencer came back with an all-in shove for around 270,000. Jorstad used up a time bank chip as he considered the decision, but he eventually slid his cards into the muck and tapped the felt as Spencer dragged in the massive pile of chips.

Paur Spikes the River Right After Break

On one of the first hands back from break, Taylor Paur was all in from the button for around 95,000 and up against Jonathan Jaffe in the hijack.

Jaffe jumped into the lead on the 9♦4♠J♥ flop with a pair of nines and left Paur needing help to remain in the tournament. The A♣ on the turn wasn't what he was looking for, but the Q♦ fell on the river and he improved to a better two pair to double up.
